Great pictures, ultradad :thumbright: very nice APC and heli kills there. That chopper that took down is one of the "special logic" ones (the one that comes after blockpost mission) and designed to make the player cry, if I may say so, heh he. :D Not one of those normal helis. Garbage one is like that as well. :mozilla_wink:


EggChen That's a great idea, :thumbright: and very workable, as well, imo.
I'll need to start thinking a new design for the Players Corners page, while receiving ideas, but I think everybody could find this idea very workable and fair.

yeah, btw, the "Sleeping Bag" function keeps track of time passed in the game and together with when Marked One's tiresome level comes to a point, he will even fall to the ground (in asense) and sleep. When you've got enough sleep, deends on how long you've slept (say, 1, 3 or 5 hours) the game resets his tiresome level accordingly and until you again reach "that tiresome level" which will satart making him ready for sleep, you cannot sleep.
If you click on the sleeping bag during this time, while he's still enough rested, the slleping bag will not come up, instead, at the left bottom of the menu/screen it'll say: "Marked One is fully rested"

If you do not make him sleep for long time, then he will start seeing things double, like a good Stalker who is swimming in Vodka. :D

A tip when you take a five hour sleep, there's a good (not very high, but good) chance of being hit with a Horror-Time, unless you go to sleep right or a bit after an Horror-Time. :mozilla_wink:

Thanks NW, I think I am missing some messages on screen (maybe because of my widescreen resolution). I hear lots of beeps, but nothing appears, I have not seen that "fully rested" message, but I gather that is what the noise I hear means.

On a side note, I just got the "Gobble Gobble" achievement on GTA IV for 3 strikes in a row in bowling :ymbringiton:

Okay guys I have some pictures here. They in a sort of journal/story type thing though and not much is there so bare with me.

The Journal of a Stalker
Part One
It’s a tough life in the zone. Especially for me as the Military want me dead more then anyone else. I had Military trying to set up positions to ambush me, helicopters patrolling all over the place 24/7 and hell they even being invading the village to find me. Before I had gone to the zone my life was a mess. I am a wanted man. I had committed no crime but I was framed. I had apparently killed five thousand people including the president of the united states Obama. Now I am the worlds most wanted man but there are a few who are helping me, protecting me and to find out who framed me. I was told of a life I could escape to, to relax and enjoy life once more. They said go to Chernobyl which was somewhere in Ukraine. They told me no one would think to look for me there, how wrong they were. I did some research of my own before I arrived and found out Stalkers or mercenaries in another term go there to live their life of finding artefacts and selling them to get rich and other reasons. I figured I go with it and here I am. What went wrong I always wondered to myself. I have entered a nightmare. So far I have met Loners who are Stalkers that live their life as a usual job to find artefacts and other rare things:

I don’t know much about the Mercs right now but I be sure to write them here when I get the chance.

When I first entered the zone I was to make contact with Wolf:

He was the leader of the Rookie village and he had planned travelling up north deeper into the zone when the village could look after itself.

And so I lived my life in the zone. I have been hunting Boars, Dogs, Fleshes and other different kinds of Mutants.

Boars are what you would think they are:

I would go on to explaining these Mutants more and the others but I don’t have much time right now as I am currently hiding from the Military helicopters and they won’t go away.

There has been lots of action in Cordon such as the battle for Rookie village, hiding and running from helicopters and hunting. Rookie village has been in a hell of a mess:

But I can’t stay there forever so I did what I could and moved further on. Just before I left there was only two survivors, an experienced Loner called Gena and the rookie I saved earlier from the bandits Nimble:

End of Part One

This was a little rushed I think on my behalf but I be trying to tidy it up and so on. Will post it in my thread in Journal from the zone also.

And as you can see the story/journal sort of fits in with my character and my current game as right now im in hangar watched seriy die and hiding from the helicopters. So it sort of fits in. Im trying to make as many pictures as I can to explain the action but its hard as the action comes first before the story so it be all over the place.

Part 2 will hopefully involve more information about the battle of rookie village, what happened to the main characters and horror time along with blowout. Also maybe my random bloodsucker event too.

I like those ideas alot. Perhaps a few names could be changed but I would vote for this unless something better comes along (can it get better?). Perhaps an award for the most main characters kept alive? (Please don't im failing at this unless its just Nimble then yeh go for it)

Im expecting the most deaths award over here. While im expecting the most controller kills etc to go to busetibi and the killing helicopters or APCs to.. im not sure actually thats a tough one.

Also while im here can anyone give me some tips to help kill helicopters? Maybe APCs but havent dealt with them much yet.

I'm curious. I might retry Extreme mode tonight, and I had an idea about the car park and rescuing Nimble. There's a Bandit jacket in the disused mill (not to mention the Pseudogiant and Firebite), and the mod, at the start, mentions something about wearing the typical suit of a faction and being able to infiltrate them to an extent (as long as you don't have your weapon drawn). I wonder...would it be possible to approach the bandits at the car park in that manner, with one of their suits? I'm not entirely certain how the feature works (I believe the Light Army Uniform worked on the military at the bridge in Full Horror Time, though - they went to try to kill Petruha, but ignored me until I opened fire on them, and I was in their ranks too).

just attack them and waste them.
what you need to do is the old draw them in then kill them.
it works like this,
dont fire on them till you're in a easily (sp?) defended position, shoot at them to let them know where you are, they will come hunt you out,being dumb, they'll come at you one at a time, easy.
this also works in the military camp (after agro underground) you know when you exit the hole in the ground, if you look right you'll see a building with some steps,
heres what I do, I exit the hole, make my way to the building and shoot at the guys in front of the main building, they fire back, I make my way into the little hut/barracks and crouch down in the corner gun ready,I have a clear sight of the door way but they dont know I'm there, then they come into my line of sight, I shoot them, rinse and repeat, normally I can take out nine of them (one at a time) leaves about three or four to take out as I get the documents, piece of cake.
as it happens I'm about to start that part of the story, I'll take some screens of the idiots and the pile they make.

I still fancy trying to infiltrate them, getting to a good position, and then wasting them that way. Maybe up on the roof of the building where they hold Nimble, next to the bandit who watches from there. I'm just wondering how the suit feature works out, and if this is possible, or if there is a clear limit (aside from having your weapon drawn).

Having a small problem in Yantar, i have switched off the machine and got back out, but soon as i hard save i dont quick save i get this message. Tryed it a few times from the autosave from when you get into the underground tunnel but any save after crashes to desktop

I think busetibi's method of handling B-) opposition is the best inmy opinion, though of course, everyone has a way that they may like best. No matter a "faction suit" you wear, they will eventually see you, there are very few occasions in STALKER that you can approach your enemy withing stabbing distance, a lot of luck is involved in this, like how many of them are watching around, if they are already (slightly or more) on alert level and how much, etc.
I start shooting bastards as soon as they enter my field of fire, (after securing myself in a well-defended position, of course) :mozilla_smile:

Yeah it must tbe the "fully rested" prompt. It pops up (with a noise as well) just about the vicinity of AMK News are broadcast, may get obscured by the item menu at that time.
Also, I don't know how and in what way your 64-bit OS will be effective in Quad_CPU spawn delay problem, but Quad-Cores do cause significant delay in STALKER. There is a Microsoft Hotfix for Quad-Core performance problems, but MS told me that it's not fully tested and allow per-person basis currently, I haven't installed it as I've had enough PC problems recently.But, they'll release it in the coming VISTA SP2 (in a week or two as it seems) But still not sure if it'll help STALKER. So, as a fellow Quad-Core user, from my own experience, I recommend that when playing the game with Quad-Core, it's best to "reload" as often as one can do, particularly when approaching an area, before a mission, etc. Quad-Core is no good in STALKER, you were right when warning.

Guys, this idea of section by section awards can work well, I believe. Is there anyone who would like to keep track of the list, who is scoring what?

I'd be great if someone can take charge of the list, allocating places. I can upload the decisions (in techical part of the scheme) to the Players Corner. The Players Corner then can say: "prepared by (name) " So, I mean this person will take charge of the Players Corner. What you say? How about EggChen? You're the one who gave that idea, how about being the judge of all that?

I am at my wits end! ](*,) this game doesn't F@(K1N& like me at all! Playing on extreme, have JUST talked to bes, & before I can help wipe out the bandits I get a blowout. sprint for the hangar, & before I can even get through the door Serily is killed - task failed (of course I get the "help Serily fight off the bandits" quest on the way in.) I have reloaded from the level changer 10 TIMES! The outcome is the same - excactly the same - every single time!

F@(K extreme... I'm dropping a level. - If I continue. Why the hell does this mod put the screws to me so friggin' bad? X(

You're pure unlucky there, indeed. Seriy never died in my games due to the blowout there, they stand in the middle of the Hangar and ride it off. He must've been hit (oofline) by bandits or something before you've arrived and got weakend greatly. (I'm just putting the possibility)
Also having a blowout before seeing seriy is a small chance, but it sure can happen time to time.

I'd suggest that you load a save done inside Cordon. (autosave carry the many of conditions that lead to that blowout, so loading it won't change the outcome that much) Stay in cordon a few gamehours (sleeping would be a good idea) and then try entering Garbage again, and see if blowout hits again. If it hits again, please tell me, so that I start running away, because you seem very pissed off. x_x

Another suggestion, (even if this wouldn't defer the blowout) would be that you can skip to another level instead of going to Garbage directly. I know this is a bit irregular route, but as the whole Zone is open from the start, you can use the Level Changer in Cordon which is situated after the military bridge -left side- , you'll see it on your map, and go to Agroghom and do a bit of looting there, and then either a long detour or coming back and proceed to Garbage. During this time, more than likely that the blowouts sequence would have been lived already somewhere, and you shouldn't have it in Garbage this time.
I'm sure you'll beat the blowout, however persistent and cunning it may be, and it is indeed. :mozilla_smile:

instead of meeting Bes,when you enter the level skirt around the loner and three bandits, go round the hills on your right as you enter the level,(to try and stop "Help repel the bandits" with Bes) go to the hanger and choose sleep for five hours, this should bring on the blowout, once it's over then resume the normal route in Garbage,(go see Bes)
it may work. :mozilla_wink:
edit:if you try the sleep for five hours dont forget to eat before you do it

My problem in Garbage is the DAMN Helio! I have hit it with grenades from the launcher 3 or 4 times, and can't kill it. I can get around it, but not if I am carrying much loot. Did Agro Underground and every time I come back thru garbage, there it is. I will take great pleasure in killing this thing. When I have a weapon that can.

Amen brother, i felt the same way :D , helicopters are at the top of my s**t list now and we hunt each other with a passion every chance we get :ymdevil:, but i also like to make apc go BOOOOOOOOOmmmmmmm as well :))

Anyway can't update my story right now haven't had time to play the game but will play it soon enough.

I just have a big problem with helicopters. Especially the one currenly in Garbage...

I need some serious help...I might even have to get rid of Stalker altogether. The thing is, I read the post about getting no red lines when starting up a new game (making sure everything is properly loaded). Now, I tried this out. Problem is...I suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder and perfectionism (I always watch the start video). I've been restarting a heck of a lot already down to my ocd, but this red line thing doesn't do me any favours. Is it really that important, not getting any red? Or is it just per playing that people have tried getting everything to load properly, not just new games? I've played Stalker plenty of times before, and, to be honest, I've never done things like this. Especially not the red line thing...and I don't think I've had any problems, to be honest. I just don't want to keep this up, because I want to enjoy this game, and this past week, well...OCD-fest for me. I just want to start my game, yet now I'll worry and everything...at least to an extent. I'd just like to start a new game once, just once, and not end up back at starting again because of anything, least of all red lines in the console...
