Grump642 if you've checked your config\misc\quest_items file and find the decoder (line 545) is pointing to x=11 y=3, then there's nothing wrong that you can correct by reinstallation. Then why the game threw a snork leg icon in place of the decoder icon and then it disappeared altogether is really a mystery, buddy. I could suspect of RAMs or maybe CPU, or both. But underlying problem may be with the PSU. If it's not feeding the components well, they are prone to glitches, wrong-reads from the files, dropping processes halfway, etc. How's your PSU? If you want, you can open ui_icon_equipment with a pic editor, Gimp or Adobe, etc, grid it 50x50 pixels and count them as I gave the x/y navigation above, decoder's icon in its place and the file is pointing to it. So, I can only guess a sort of power problem maybe.
(Pripyat's limited spawns must be of the same reason as well. CPU may not be gearing up to its full power)
But thanks for persevering despite this.

Hmm...Lukash and others should not normally die in a blowout, they are very strong, almost one step below an ultimate god character. I think they must've already got a lot of damage (merc or duty attack on the base, zombies?) just prior to blowout, so they must have been already weak. I haven't increased the blowout in AW, it's same as 2.4. (it wsa already very heavy. lol  ) But RF and Pripyat have now harsher blowouts. :mozilla_wink:

that dynamite quest is impossible to finish, normally (in v1 and v2.4) it's lying on the ground either in one of the bunkers or next to a blown out wall, this time the icon that points to it (kinda grey circle thing in your main PDA map,) is acually pointing to Fanatic, now Fanatic is impossible to kill as I've had three red barrels, two gas cylindars next to him, blew them up and he's still standing without a care in the world, so I've given up on that one.
maybe restart the level Wombat_70 I had Skinflint die on me once, and as I didn't want to be without a trader in AW I restarted and stuck to him like a childs nappy to save him.
codes?
at least three of the six digit code is in AW level, I'm still searching for the seven digit one, just got back to the Bar, (five six digit codes hidden here) I'm still trying to find the seven digit code, I need to do some killing as most of the last four nights has been nothing but searching for it, might go do the BS level then revisit an old Cordon save if nothing turns up in the Bar

NW - The GPU actually runs cooler when playing NEWSA than vanilla Stalker!! I think maybe the extra CPU load limits the amount of work the GPU does, I get 60+ FPS at 1440 x 900 maxed, in vanilla that is more like 120+. The card never gets above 60 and the cpu never above 40, I have a lot of fans ;)
Nothing overclocked, I don't need to... Don't know the RAM temps, but they are air cooled, and have heatsinks like most modern RAM.

The couple of hours thing is not in one straight go... includes reloads, restarts, reboots. Basically by the time I'm well into the Garbage things start to get flaky, its odd because I have not had any savegame corruption at all.

My bro is looking out for some large hard drives for me, I'm planning a rebuild of my PC to include an XP partition at some point over the summer, so I can always try again.

Er...anyone know why I can't talk to Yurik, at the Garbage? Just rescued him from the bandits who held him up, but there is no option to talk to him.

Getting this dynamite is an awefully difficult job, busetibi and Wombat_70, I'm aware, because of the this "looting" ability of NPCs and their quickness on their feet. They don't miss anything that's spawned around them as though they get the smell of it, lol; and in a way, yes, they do of course, because the the game knows what's been spawned within their range. Damn those thieves. For example a Vintorez is spawned in AW base, inside the second barracks, but if you can't get there within a minute, or so, it is history and a Freedom soldier is now a proud owner of a brand new Vintorez.
Same thing happens with the RPG in Garbage Duty Caravan-barracks, you know, at the Garbage-Bar door. It's instantly looted by a Dutyer and he starts wandering around with an RPG on his shoulder. Maybe I should relocate some of those items on some rooftops or something which NPCs cannot reach. Isn't there :D any police on this Zone?

Yeah saving Skintflint from his doom works better in the long run for me, too; I'd agree. He has some nice supplies, I've found that having a trader nearer to high danger levels could be very handy at times.

I've alreday updated some pictures in Players Corner. I'll do it again with the new ones on Tuesday or Wednesday. Weekends are getting too busy for a few weeks now.

Kaidonni, not all NPCs speak with the Actor in the game, and some who can offer a standard dialog (not different than any other would say) may not engage in a dialog if their alert levels are high enough to block it; you say you've saved him from the bandits, this maybe the cause.

Thanks EggChen for updating your situation. I was just trying to run guesses, but it is obvious your temps are even better than the ideal levels. :thumbright: Frankly, I'm not experienced in 64 bit operations (apart from knowing a few things theoretically, of course, and such things are hardly any helpful in the brute reality of practice, as always) so I can't say for sure if it's a symptom of 64 bit/Quad-Core combination or not. I'm actually following the info that you've kindly provide on this, learning a few things along the way. I want to change to 64 bit as well, so your findings are very useful. This additional XP portion is a very good idea, maybe I should consider it as well.

No, I mean Yurik, the guy you have to save the first time you go there, right before you help Bes and meet Seriy. Yurik isn't alert or anything, he's just standing there, doing absolutely nothing. I should be able to speak with him, then he would go with my to see Bes. But he's doing nothing at all. I think he was even supposed to be a friend, but not certain about that part. One thing I am certain on is that I am supposed to be able to talk to him and then go with him to Bes.

PS: I am enjoying the mod, don't get me wrong. I just pick up on a number of things, that's all.

I read him as Tolik, OK he' is Yurik. It's one of the vanilla things, he may not answer to you over there and his status may not change. ZRP has corrected such issues. Although it'd be nice, as you'd expect to do so, but you don't need to speak with him at all. At most, he'll thank you and all that. Just go directly to Bes. Everything will work fine. I even corrected some small vanilla glitches in Bes affair. You don't need Yurik, you need Bes.
Just don't forget to save often, particularly when you've reached Seriy a little bit further down the road. :mozilla_wink:

Strange thing happened - got to Bes, but the guy who warns of the approaching bandits was dead somehow, so I had to take the attack out single-handedly.

Now I'm stuck in the Hangar with the chopper! He's sooooooo persistent. I think I'm going to have to save up LOTS of money just to get some missiles or an RPG. And then there's an APC by the far gate, so I have to be careful how I dance with the chopper's attacks because one wrong move and that guy gets me.

If it makes any difference, during this game I sort of reinstalled Stalker (complete with the correct patch, of course) and Extreme. Also reinstalled Extreme today just in case (the Yurik thing). I hope none of that has messed my game up. Shouldn't have, same patch, same mode, same saves.

Yeesh, though, those choppers...I will be glad to get something that can take them down. I don't mind the Cordon chopper, he just comes and goes, but the Garbage one... B-(

Oh, I also had two instances of APCs floating off today :)). One in Cordon, the unmanned one over the bridge near to where you find Tolik at the start. The second (BEFORE I GOT KILLED AND REALISED I HADN'T A SAVE AFTER THE GARBAGE CHOPPER LEFT ME ALONE!!! =))) the APC firing on me at the Garbage. I used my Groza NT on him. Then, well...direct your attention once again to the outburst :(.

Nightwatch, Decoder is back like before.(snork leg). If it works, I don't care if it looks like EggChen! I am pretty sure(99%) that is not a hardware problem.

You know, you fight your way through 3 APCs, 2 helicopters, & 20 friggin' grunts - you are at the DOORWAY to the outpost & you hear yet another chopper. so back around the side of the building. Whew! - he didn't see you.... then you get shot through a roof & 3 brick walls.

Update: After getting some sleep, getting some coffee & a chew in, I am "going in" again - deciding that Marked One's story doesn't end with him dying @ the military outpost in my version...
