On that note ket, a quick question.
I notice some feedback that there were too many mutants... care to give me an idea what you want?

More numbers than vanilla, or just more variation?

More numbers overall. The script file I sent you with the decompiled ltx files shows how many mutants and where. Their all to respawn too, single spawns I've already done :thumbright:

The rocket launcher and various grenade launchers are truely useful in TK. Without them at certain points you will die, very, very quickly indeed :p

DEXXX's mod seems to be a further development of the original thing but with many improvements and fixes. I'm not sure but I think it's also used in the Priboi mod. It has stuff like AI running for cover, hideouts marked on the map and the blowouts themselves are much deadlier and last longer.

hi.

yep DEXXX mod is far better (im not against us since we made the old blowout with lssneitrino, but i must say it) because its updated. update contains: some basements and houses contains markers for npcs, so when the scripted timer launches, npcs will go to those points (from outsider view, they hide)

about the second part:
nope we didnt use it in priboi, we made our own version that fits to the storyline, and wont ruin it with sending npcs away from important places, camps.

A new texture aspect for you to test guys. I'm probably going to try different things still so consider these textures beta. Essentially the aim is to make foliage look nicer by attempting to hide those nasty jaggy edges we all see when up close to a bush\tree\grass.

Just extract the folder to gamedata/textures, and let me know how they look to you.

See this thread for new version.

Anyone eagerly awaiting a update.. well here it is! As some of you will know I've been focusing on my own business for a while, most of the paperwork seems to be done for it for now, so I shall take up tools for TK 1.1 for a while again. Most of what is left to be done is all.spawn related, so very texty stuff and a royal pain in the arse. If anyone is capable with all.spawn editing and would like to help let me know.

I bet you all thought I forgot about this :p I deffinately have not. Its just time has been tight, and after working on this HUGE mod all by myself for over a year, I suffered from huge burnout. At this time, there is just one thing left to do: move all the mutant spawns into the all.spawn file. My most hated of tasks. If theres anyone out there with experience on all.spawn editing PLEASE get in contact with me, 2-3 people would make the world of difference in finishing all.spawn editing :)

Yet again months of silence go by and people must be wondering whats going on with this mod. I've been silently in the background testing all the modified base code to make sure it runs absolutely flawlessly. TK 2.0 has undergone some heavy changes as the model for what I wanted complicated itself and thus the mission statement changed. TK 2.0 is very much a survival horror with a healthy dose of mutants, shooting, and atmosphere thrown in. This mod will scare you, but not only that it'll be the most visually beautiful SoC you have ever seen. For once things are going quite smoothly and once I finish playtesting the base code the finishing touches will be added. At this point in time I have no official ETA but I'm hoping the next 14 days.

Just some screenshots I snapped from the almost complete TK2.0. These smaller images really don't do the painstaking attention to level of detail taken justice, so I'll rar the fullsize shots up and give a DL link for them. Oh and I'm looking for a small army to test the base code of TK2.0, so hands up who wants to test? :D Your not going nuts either, that crappy looking still water swamp IS gone and replaced with something much nicer! Even all the foliage in TK2.0 has all undergone a huge overhaul, the foliage / shrubbery is no longer really jagged and nasty looking, each texture having a customised AA filter applied to it. Things are also much thicker so you cant easily see through a leaved bush for that headshot, and unlike "extreme graphics" mods, my graphical enhancements are genuine so textures/bump maps/parallax mapping really is improved, I don't use a massive amount of bloom to simply blur the image up like those so-called "extreme graphics" mods do.

Wow, ket! Great work! Looks so... grainy and detailed... Exactly how I like it! Each colour seems to be screaming, "HEY! LOOK AT ME WHILE THAT BLOODSUCKER EATS YOUR FACE!" :P
Plus, without going overboard with bloom lighting (which I think is sooooooo dumb, a lightbuld doesn't make my face glow, alright? I'm not Bill Hicks; moths don't bump into me...), I don't think this mod will murder my computer like those "extreme graphics mods," as you put it, do. No longer will I be left out of the full dynamic lighting because everyone has to crank bloom lighting and shadows way too unrealisticly high! No longer will I be too lazy to figure out how to tweak those settings myself, because I won't have to! YAY!

Hehehe.... sorry... I definitely had too much fun with that post... I'm giddy because I had way too much caffeine... so injure me and leave me for the snorks...

But seriously, good job man! This winter season is going to be crammed with some serious mod releases...
LOOK! It says gullible on the ceiling!!!

Indeed almost anybody should be able to run this mod and be blown away by the graphical detail. To ensure everything is as optimised as possible I've been testing the game using just one of my 4830s @ stock settings. Theres a few places the FPS drops to around 15, but its still very playable at those poins. Just some examples of graphical improvements you will see are;

Campfires / other light sources cast proper ambient light / glow.
Global Illumination has been enabled and optimised
Customised Bump Mapping for that rustic, radiation effected look on objects
Proper Parallax Mapping
Realistic implementation of Bloom Lighting
+ A whole armada of other improvements

Its not just graphical beauty I've worked on though, the whole gameplay aspect has changed, yet remained the same. If things work out there will be new missions to do as well. The only time you will really get a good "killing machine" is when the Gauss rifle and FN2000 become available. Theres the H&K G3A3 also, but you won't be able to afford the running costs of that rifle until the later stages of the game. Traders are no longer Stalkers version of walmart either. Each trader sells specific weapons and ammunition - but heres the kick in the teeth, traders sell VERY LIMITED supplies of ammunition, which only have a certain chance of being available based on the kinds of weapons that ammo type allows you to use. For example, Gauss rounds, sniper rounds and 5.56mm rounds are difficult to aquire. Forcing the player to scavenge all they can from fallen enemies and comrades alike. This system also forces players to use other weapons in the game instead of just sticking to their favourite weapons, this is a true survival horror romp folks with a healthy dose of shooting, mutants, and scaring the crap out of you :p I have intentionally designed this mod to give the player genuine fear and concern for their own well-being and where their next dose of ammunition is coming from. You'll be surprised just how often you'll be happy to find a enemy with 9mm ammo.

Heres the minimum and recommended specs I put in place for this mod;

CPU: Athlon 64 2.5GHz+, Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM: 2GB
Graphics: Overclocked X1950Pro / XT or nvidia equivillent with 512MB onboard or better

Recommended:

CPU: Athlon 64 X2 2.8GHz+, Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 or better

Graphics: Overclocked HD4830 512MB or nvidia equivillent or better.
