If it still recovers, then you should consider reinstalling the game by running the setups again, choosing the same Horro-Tim evesrion you're playing now. It will not harm your saves. It'll just refresh the files in your gamedata folder.

When you say reinstall do you mean the game or mod or both? I had a busy day today and my brain isn't thinking properly so spare my dumbness .

One of the test PCs that tests this mod runs a XFX Nvidia 8600GT XXX (Factory overclocked) which is supported by a 500W PSU and Intel D 3.4 GHz CPU, 3 Gb RAM. All those matter in the answer, so although this card, 8600GT XXX runs everything on MAX, it is suported with all the others as well, as you'd appreciate. So the card is not always a single correct asnwer to problems.
However, you CPU is very good, but you definitely need another 1Gb RAM stick, and if your PSU is upto the task of providing enough juice, 8600GT would be quite alright. You can slightly OC it as well, if you see any need for it.
There's a second "however" on this, which is the delelopments in the cards. If you're paying for a card now, like a 8600GT, (if you can save up a bit more and follow the dropping prices, good shopping on Intenet, etc,) you can think of getting a bit better card now for not to fall back in card technology very soon. If you can save up a bit you can think of getting a 8800 or 9800 on ebay from a good dealer, trying to guarantee the future a bit longer. .

I had seen an 8800GT for less than £80 on www.overclockers.co.uk but they are back up to £100 now (may be the struggling pound versus the dollar). Worth keeping an eye on that site if you want to go for an 8800...

Once i get memory and that graphics card i should hopefully be able to run all my new fave games . And my quest to becoming the best stalker will continue. The bloodsucker and controller hunt will continue . I have to beat busetibi's count first..

OK, the catch. To run the 8800 you gotta have lots of power - @ least a clean 450 watts... and then backup your "stuff" before you rip open the box & stuff things in it. ( I know a certain dude who added 3 Gb RAM, installed a huge power supply, & stuffed in a 8800 GS, & when he fired up old blue, - it shredded windows! - he had to reinstall his OS and every little bit of stuff. Then the dumbass was still backing up his finances onto 3.5 floppies instead of going & getting some flash drives, & one disc got corrupted... ) Anyhow - tread carefully, grasshopper. but boy, is it worth it when you are done!!!

On another note: played through CS twice... time to fire up N.E.W.S.A. again!!

2. About my flashlight. Everytime i push the key to turn it on (C for me as i changed it) it does not turn on. I have also tried pushing default key which is L and that also doesnt work. I was wondering if it was the suit which i have is Stalker suit.

If you are running in static lighting, this might be due to the disabling of dynamic lights by the game.

If so, you can enable them by bringing down the console while the game is running (press the key with the tilde (~) character on it) and typing this:

r1_dlights on

followed by the Enter key. Then press the Esc key to close the console.

Try your flashlight then. This fix should automatically be written to your user.ltx file when you quit the game, but it is possible that if you select a certain video mode and then switch back, you will need to repeat the above.

no tweaks or modified files used.

Start game...... 1/9/2008.
Ingame Time... 1/5/2012.

Finished Stancia 2 and Freeplay begun.
Real Life Time....12/9/2008.
Ingame Time..... 13/5/2012.

I play most nights for three hours, although I did lose 1 1/2 weeks due to personal problems.
Weapons
during the normal gameplay I used what ever I had, mostly the
Nite 14-SP and the FN 2000NW and a Nano Suit.
Once I hit Freeplay I had the Nite-SP, FN2000NW and the Vintor BC, and I also stock piled four Nano Suits on the roof of the hotel in Pripyat.
the Vintor was used exclusivly(sp?) for taking out the zombies in Horror Time,the Nite-SP was used for taking out Mutants, esp Controllers and the FN2000 for taking out choppers and NPC's.

Ammo
Once I hit Freeplay ammo was a problem as I didn't save a Loner when I hit Pripyat (so no Trader) almost none of NPC's had the ammo that I needed (Buckshot,.45 cal Magnum, and 9x39 SP-5) although I did find a stash in the BS level that gave up 10 rockets and 20 rounds for the FN2000NW everytime I visited it.
I had to make three ammo supply runs, the last one to The Bar was where I dropped everything and walked out of the Bar with my weight in the red with all the ammo.

Freeplay Game Plan
I based myself in Pripyat then moving to RF and BS then back to Pripyat.
I would do at least three tours/runs of Pripyat during day light hours then move to Red Forest just before night fall then clear out RF and move to BS complex to clear out the Monolith (normally 14) then go back through RF area up to AW switch and back again through the actual forest, day light would come then I'd go back to Pripyat and start the sequence again.
it sounds easy, but you need to keep your eye on the clock regarding re-spawn times (after Stancia 2 I changed my respawn times in the additional options menu to "Very Frequent") as you need to know when and where everything is respawning.

and also EggChen for his brilliant particle effects in v2.4

This is a score very difficult to achieve and leaves it as a challenge to catch up with. This is also a result of very meticulous planning over the entirety of the game. Monitoring the spawn times closely and hitting the game when the spawns happen is a sure way to raise the kill score as it is clearly demonstrated here.

Thank you busetibi, not only for achieving this challenging score, but also for your great reflections from the game which have always been utmost exciting and a pure delight to read, as well as they have been extremely helpful in the assessment of the game and therefore very contractive for the improvements in the mod.


I will replace the new PDA stats picture on the mod website, and I will put your "final report" as well.

Where is this trader in Pripyat ?

When you enter Pripyat, you receive a mission "Walk with the Stalkers" and escort them to an underground carpark through a barrage of fire from all sides.
You need the save at least one of them and he should be savely staioned inside the carpark. Then this NPC will be the trader.

edit: man, I don't know if its the engine trying to write 32 stalkers in the arena, all the boxes, or what - I can't get anything but choppy performance in there - it's unplayable. I even lowered res. & quality settings. Oh well. I'll just have to go mug people for money.
