two nights (rt) and I'm still in Cordon, in fact I haven't even rescued Nimble yet,I've fixed up Tolik and took the side mission off him to get 4 blind dogs tails, moving across the road found Petruha and his rookies, but Petruha wants to go chasing the Military (idiot) he keeps getting killed which is no surprise as they have AK 47's and all hes got is a shotgun (looks like a SPSA14),so I'm trying to decide whether to just leave him to his fate then get his shotgun or cover him to complete the mission to talk to wolfs scouts.
sods keep throwing grenades at me and killing me while I'm hiding behind the trees.
later...........

acdc.pl gave me a good beating today. I was up to some plotting for the Extreme version, then it started not recompiling all of a sudden. Not that there was a mistake or something (just changed a few numbers) the other folders that had the "unedited" versions of all.spawn did not compile either when I tested them. I caught the message: "no memory" Damn! What "no memory?" I knew this prompt, while trying to remember the workaround, it occurred to me the real damn reason: I had been downloading the FEAR 2 demo, over 1.7 gig!! Must be that. Then it finished (two hours...) I restarted, and acdc.pl worked.
So, one lesson comes from it meanwhile: anything that occupies your RAMs, including heavy downloads, may cause glitches with acdc.pl.

IMPORTANT:

OK, after this... this is the new plot to you, the potential EXTREME players:

You know the bunkers in Red Forest (sniper bunker in midway to Brain Scorcher) and in Brain Scorcher complex in which you find ammo and medkits+a few grenades, I've already changed the items that you will find in those (better ones). But that's not my point now.

The point is that, while playing all other modes of the game, the codes for those two doors will remain the same as before, as they are now. Meaning: you will either get them from bodies/PDAs, or I will continue offer them on the website as it's highly probable that you may not find the NPCs ever who carry those codes, as they wander around quite a bit.

However: in EXTREME mode, the two doors' codes are different, and the codes that you may find on NPC bodies/PDAs will not unlock those.

The codes will be secretly written in some places all along the game. So you will need to keep your eyes open and keep glancing at everywhere ;) And if you see some numbers in anywhere, you should keep them noted somewhere. They can be anywhere from Cordon to Red Forest. (But not later, it'd be pointless)

I cannot stress the importance of finding those numbers enough, as it's vital to enter the Red Forest sniper bunker if you want to survive the scale 10 blowout there, so to speak. That specific blowout (the kind that you had in Dark Valley) will possibly hit you there while you're around (or just passed) the friendly monolith RPG guy. So, you can either run back to the mono guard checkpoint near the AW entry/exit point (you'll have apprx 60-70% chance of survival there) or fight your way into the sniper bunker (100% survival)

So, now I think the idea of getting the numbers correctly should sound more important. :ymdevil:

I agree. Busetibi, what kind of Controller attractant do you use? Do they make female Controller pheromones? :-? Dude, I haven't seen a controller since I popped up the spiral stairs to steal a briefcase... X(

Be Warned, this could be a long post.

well I'm going to tell you, but only you, so keep it to yourself or I'll have to come and kill you for giving away my gameplan
during the normal course of the game (before freeplay) I can come across them in the normal places, although the last time (2.4 v) I did come across one in WT, some say it's normal but it was a first for me.
from memory, normal game I only had 7-8 but when I hit freeplay I was coming across them all the time.
My Theory.
when I hit freeplay (after Stancia 2) I change my spawn rates in the Optional Menu to Very Frequent.
Places and Approx numbers of Controllers once I hit Freeplay.
Pripyat.
The School Building at least 3 sometimes 6.
The Building where the downed chopper is (beside the tennis courts) at least 5 sometimes 7.
Sniper Alley never more than 2
The Garages 1 maybe 2

moving out of Pripyat into RF.
always 1 when I re-enter the switch to RF
moving down the hill from the switch (Pripyat/RF) always 1 moving around by the hole in the fence (Monolith sniper position)
turn left at the x-road making my way down to where the RPG guy was the first time in RF (the pipes?) just after the pipes theres always 1, I think he comes out of the actual(sp?) forest.
I then make my way to RF/AW switch and I normally come across at least 2, 1 hanging around the Monolith barrier and 1 coming through the AW switch.
The Really Hard Part.
It's all about timing.....
I do "sweeps" of Pripyat, Red Forrest and Brain Scorcher Complex, during day time I do three sweeps of Pripyat and once night starts closing in I move into Red Forrest/Brain Scorcher.
Pripyat Sweeps
My start position is the School building, take out the Monolith and Controllers, moving past the underground garage taking out Monolith and Firebites I move across the Tennis courts and into the Building taking out the Controllers,Monolith,Bandits and Military moving down the outside staircase taking out more Monolith and Bloodsuckers I walk up the road to the Stadium, more Firebites and maybe a couple of Monolith, turn right into the stadium main road, take out the 5 Monolith hanging around the trucks and fires, move into the Stadium, take out snorks and other mutes, exit the Stadium cross beside the Ferris wheel cut through the Hotel (room 26) and into the underground carpark, always feel the Controllers aura once I enter the carpark, exit the carpark (up the hill) turn left into the school take out the Monolith and Bandits then the Controllers.
then we're back to my start position.
Rinse and repeat three times and night time falls.
Pripyat/RF/BS in next Installment

lol, why does it sound so easy when you're writing it ?

Dusk,
I try to get into RF while it's still light so I can see where everyone is.
Normal, 1 Controller approx 5-6 Monolith beside the bus, sometimes a couple of them coming up the hill, either them or Freedom.
I head down to the break in the fence to hunt the Controller, enter the woods looking for him and the 7-8 loner zombies, following the fence line till I reach the pipes(RPG guy pipes) If I haven't met the Controller yet this is where I'll find him.
take a detour up the road to the switch to... (I've forgotten where this switch leads to, sry) normaly 6-8 Monolith either just outside the compound and a few inside, kill them, need to be careful here as sometimes a couple of Loners spawn in.
leave the area and backtrack following the road up to AW/RF switch, a Controller is normally hanging around with the Monolith(4-5) at the road block, take them out and continue to the switch, few rodents and lesser mutes come through the switch and sometimes a Controller.
start out again heading down the road but instead of following it,head into the woods themselves, play hunt the loner zombies, (too early for the Controller) leave the woods by the hole in the fence where the dead eco guys are and head up to BS, take out Monolith going up the hill and about 7-8 inside the rail yard, head down the hill, Monolith are back at the Pripyat/RF switch, ignore them for now, head past the bus shelter and down the road, you should feel the Controllers aura coming from the woods but ignore him for now,go back to the compound (road to the right) Monolith are back, take them out, again watch out for the two Loners that spawn in.
walk down the road, get to the pipes again if you're lucky the loner zombies have come out of the woods along with the Controller, if not then go back into the woods and hunt them.
take them out, then it's time to take care of the Monolith and Controller up at the Pripyat/RF switch.
hang around the switch, I normally get inside the bus to wait for more Monolith(4-5) to either spawn in or come through from the Pripyat switch(2-3).
I can normally get two of these "sweeps" done before it starts getting light.
of course I haven't mentioned "Horror Times",Blow Outs, Chopper attacks and mute attacks that I also contend with.
this is all done at night.
once day breaks, I head back into Pripyat and it starts again. :)

so with the 3 sweeps of Pripyat and 2 sweeps of RF/BS I can average about 25 Controllers, give or take a few.
this would be one nights gaming for me, again depends on what/who I bump into.
Timing is important, because if you try and come into an area before everything respawns it really, really screws it up as the Controllers will start appearing in weird positions, you have to give them time, besides theres always lots of other things to kill to keep you interested :ymdevil:
edit: also dont forget to change the re-spawn rate to Very Frequent

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE F@*%ING KIDDING!!! ](*,) Fight my way through X16 - low on ammo - roll through the emitter room & triumphantly go to shut the thing off, & when the prompt comes onscreen to "hit <enter> to turn off emitter"- nothing happens!
Now I'm getting hit by controller waves, but the door to Ghost is still locked! Go back to control panel, timer starts over, still can't shut the thing down. X( F U C K - reload level, try again.

Curse you for getting me so hooked on this mod, Nightwatch. ;)

UPDATE: Whew! much better. sorry for the rant, guys.... :-@

Another exciting view from the battleground busetibi :thumbright:
It's a great luck that we have here some talented writers, so that we are able to visualize the apocalyptic unforgiveness of the Zone through their eyes and their pens, or to be more precise, from their keyboards.

fiznerpin1962 You're welcome :D

PS: There'll be just a bit of more things to make you (and everybody) curse in Yantar, too. ;)

fiznerpin1962 from your posts in the Journal section and in here I'm taking it your in the AW levels, why haven't you been able to buy the Repairman Kit yet?
I realise it costs a lot, but it's an essential piece of equipment and one you should be moving heaven and earth to obtain, (repairs weapons and armour) plus you get a better price for weapons when you sell them if they're in good working order :mozilla_surprised:

just wondering is all ;)

'Cause my game hates me this go-round. X( I'm ready to go to the friggin' scorcher with 200,000 (and up till the bulldog 6 mission return I was still in original stalker suit). I hit a nasty anomaly & broke my shottie - stuffed it in my roof stash @ bar. Fixed NW minigun, then gave it back later... don't use it much this time & still needing cash for repair kit. Simbion is really making me work my ass off to make a buck. ](*,)

Seriously man. This game has spots that are just too fucking out of line. Been working an hour just to get from the garbage to bar level changer to the bar! Maybe you should add a couple of pseudo-dogs for God's sake.... ](*,)
