For those that have not heard of SETI@home its scientific software that analyses narrow-band radiowaves that are not known to occur naturally. Detections of this nature could point to intelligent life elsewhere, now read on here its not as far-fetched as it sounds. Scientific studies basically say theres nothing too special about where we live, and in fact its probably quite common for intelligent life to exist out in space - the problem is finding it. Even a narrow-band signal that is detected could easily be houndreds of years old, but it doesn't mean the direction it came from isn't worth investigating.

Now, I'm not anywhere as narrow-minded as 97% of the human population are, but it doesn't mean I think ET is going to come knocking at my door either. I simply look at things with an open mind and quantify things simply. Space is absolutely friggin massive, and beyond the known universe, who knows, perhaps theres another universe, something else, or maybe you just get squished to something smaller than a pinhead due to some kind of mega-giant blackhole. Anyway the point is why not look for intelligent life? If intelligent life is out there and is at least as advanced as us, their probably doing the same thing. Even if theres life out there more advanced that decide to come say hi, I doubt their going to fly a squillion lightyears to come and zap us all into nothingness.

This next bit really isn't needed, but more just there to give people a nice little story. Anyway guys check out SETI@home, it uses unused CPU clocks so you won't even know its running! Hell, anyone whos interested in SETI and are willing, I shall even teach you how to OC your system for a great boost in performance. Feel free to join me, we can start up our own SETI@home team and maybe have a SETI section for it here on STALKERmod

If ET is out there, come say hi to us earthlings! I know we probably look primitive and barely evolved from cavemen still to you, but we are trying and if theres one thing about humans, its that we always want to better ourselves in some way. So Mr. ET, if you do decide to come say hi we will listen to what you say (assuming we can understand your language or whatever communication means you choose to use) and you can undoubtedly help humans survive and colonize other planets. Our greatest dream is to travel the stars and meet new life.

I agree, there is intelligent life out there somewhere, guarenteed, theres no way humans are the only advanced race in the universe.

But can i also just add, parts of your post made me think you was high, no idea why, but whatever your having can i have some to? and maybe you will explain this SETI thing a tad more because you love us all?

Lol not high at all. Just talking about ET most people tend to think that person is nuts just because its not a common topic. What you want to know about SETI? I'm pretty good with space stuff so I'll answer what I can.

Ok I can do that, be prepared to wait though theres A LOT to be covered! Perhaps a quicker way to find out about SETI, the principles behind it and so on, is to watch some google videos. When I find some I'll put the links up.

Ok so i just watched all 45 minuites of that, and at the end it goes, "What you just watched is not real" its like WTF? and it dosent exactly explain alot as far as i could tell, apart from the fact we have 5 unknown signals lol.

Yup, watched it. As the records show, there have been even much more significant encounters during the last decades. It's my understanding that the current status of things, in general, now stands quite further ahead of what was tried to be portrayed in the video. You seem interested in astrophysics and the relevant branches of science such as quantum-physics. I guess you would know what it says on the ceiling of Karnak, too. Nice video. I think many would find it interesting to see more info on this SETI project.

Btw, there’s a missing element in the video, was it from 2001? You don’t actually need to biologically alter human beings in order to enable them travel distances measured with millions of light years (calculated as: if an object travels with speed of light, the distance will take xx amount of time to travel in a linear plane of space) and not necessarily should take millions of years itself, because you can bend the space momentarily and skip/jump from one point to another. (Think of it as if it is a long piece of fabric which you bring the two spots on it –like edges- touching each other), then, although the actual length of distance is still millions years, the distance between the near/touching points are actually shorter.

In a study started in early 2000s a team in MIT (USA) have now –a few years ago- completed the theoretically functioning (in simple terms) jumphole activation process, and since then they have been working on creating the necessary power pulse that will be required for it. Because the power surge needed for it is so huge and must have an access time which is measured with nano seconds and needs to be maintained for a certain time. Power amount roughly reaches the yearly electricity usage of a develop country. This tells a bit about the scale of the challenge. Released knowledge up to this part was the publicly (to the scientists) allowed part of the study and I believe rest is still kept well behind closed doors.

I'm not trying to be a Negative Nelly by any means but if I start broadcasting, there are people I don't want knowing that I am broadcasting. I just hate thinking of being put on "that" list don't ya know. I'm not so naive as to think we are the only intelligent life forms in this or other universes but I do believe "Big Brother" is listening, and recording, in our little sandbox. Please do carry on and not let my paranoia stop your efforts.

Nobody is listening or watching or recording except perhaps ET himself. The work your puter does with SETI is simply analyse data. Currently I'm gunning it alone with 3.8GHz of power. Probably one of the more powerful single PCs wired into SETI Besides, I fully realise many of my questions will never be answered in my lifetime, and I will not live long enough to see the kinds of technological feats and landmarks I want to, but with enough SETI power, I just MIGHT see the question answered "are we alone in the universe or not?" answered.

So many questions so little answers. Do aliens exist? I think they do but where are they if they do? How do we know they be friendly or hostile?

Also more questions may not relate here but oh well. Will we ever reach the future with flying cars, mechs and whatever else or is it all just made up and we are at our last age with modern technology?

The main question is though. Will we be alive to see any of these things?

We will, and flying cars and such are very feasible now. Their only not around because of oil companies. As long as there is even one drop of oil left on the planet, we will not see flying cars.

Also what will these aliens look like if they do exist? Will they look like the green small aliens whatever most people actually think what aliens are? Will they look like us? Will they be like in some of the films? (Aliens, Predator, Independence day, War of the worlds and so on)
