Good cheering IMO is all that is needed at a sporting event. Noise makers can interfere with the players and maybe some people close to the noise maker. RAH-RAH-SIS-BOOM-BAH and all that seems sufficient to cheer the team on.

Totally agree. They are said to make to stadiums noiser even than airports!!

I can't watch the damn matches properly with the noise up ](*,) :D I have to lower it to the minimum. How about the poor players on the ground??
