LOL, he he. :D
I must've hit the "preview" button, thinking that I hit the "submit" button, then moved away from the page. :D

BTW, MeanderingBeing, an idea, why don't you write and post some notes from your travels; but being on the road is a hard act, of course, but it usually lead to some great observations which many have always liked to read in the world. We would like to write them, too.
Anything you write and post here in that kind (and by definition, published here -it's electronic publication) is automatically copyrighted and your intellectual rights are then set and protected. Who knows, you can use them as a part of a collection of your travels in the future.

Nightwatch, are you saying if I post on a forum, it is protected? Can you elaborate on that more?

Thank you for bringing this matter for more elaboration. Yes, in general terms, in its definition, an act of publishing is nothing other than making a written material available for others (general public, to whomever may have access to the referred format of publication) in any technically possible and known way, which includes (alongside the more traditional and increasingly getting old-fashioned way of on-paper publishing, and many others ways of publications) also the all types of electronic publication -which are defined as of -not limited with- internet sites, and most common of those are the forums and other various dedicated sites (e.g. literary sites, discussion sites, etc).

As soon as a work is made available for public (here, the concept and act of availability is important, not that how many people read/view it or not) the material in question becomes copyrighted on the name of its creator under internationally recognized laws, regardless of whether he/she earns monies out of it. Of course, it goes without saying that this material "must" be unique and not a repeat of already known and/or published before.

This material may well be in the general definition of literature, as well as it can be an offered "unique" solution for any kind of matter (e.g. software, scientific, technical, artistic, etc, you name it)
Also, the material is not limited with written-word literature, it can well be any kind of art, including graphical art, motion pictures, etc.

----------------
For technical/scientific matters:
For example, if one were to offer a "new" solution (in any publication, whether in a print-magazine or on an internet site) for the recently much talked Iphone 4 problem, Apple cannot use it for commercial purposes, or otherwise it would liable for suing.
(PS: In these kind of technical situations, it's advisable that the author of this kind of technical solutions, etc, should consider pointing that the offered solution is for ordinary people to use but he does not extend his solution for the use of companies for commercial purposes, for financial gain. This would strengthen his/her case against such a company.)

MeanderingBeing,
I've moved your recent narrations based on "on the road" observations to our new sub-forum "Writers' Room" in a new thread and took the liberty of naming the thread as "On The Road..." If you ask my editorial opinion name sounds quite good, but if you wish to name it differently, please let us know.
So, I'm moving your above last post to there as well. Please continue on that thread on the same subject.

Jamie
Your posts in this regard were also moved to the new thread in Writers' Room.

Shoot! I lost all the OC settings on my PC!!

I was changing the Internet Service from one company to another (UKOnline to O2) I put the installation CD, things didn't go quite well on the first go, setup didn't quite succeed, O2 software couldn't see the box that was connected, so called the help line, tried many things over the line with no result, at the end decided to restart the PC, but PC crashed and started to fail booting up!!
Win7 boot up maintenance couldn't help, finally managed to get into BIOS and saw the HDD AHCI settings were turned to IDE, I set them up again but I also saw that all OC settings had gone, too!

PC BIOS had turned to default settings. Damn!! ](*,) Now I have to OC the PC once again. What a joy! 8-| @-) After wresting with internet change for several hours. :D

You, too? Bad luck, I know it's no joke; too frustrating.

I managed to OC'ed the PC again. This time upped the OC a bit more. The last time it was OC'ed from 2.5 to 3.0; now it stands at 3.15 GHz. I increased the FSB from its previous OC'd level of 400 to 420 (as Ket had advised before) together with new RAM frequency settings as well, and now the CPU jumped to 3.15.
I'll monitor the stability and update my thread on Hardware with new OC details.

IIRC, DFI started the practice back in the NF2 days, and several motherboard makers now provide a "save settings" feature in their BIOS. For instance, on my recent Asrock 880 Extreme3, I can save up to three sets of BIOS settings. Worth looking into the next time you plan on a new motherboard.

Plus, the newer BIOS often have "auto" OC selections in the BIOS that give a nice boost to performance with one or two clicks. I use that as a baseline, then begin tweaking and testing faster/tighter settings. My Extreme3 went from 3.2 dual to 3.7 tri-core with two BIOS clicks, now I'm working on the NB with memory to follow.

You have a very good point there to keep in mind. :thumbright:
I'll try to save the current BIOS settings manually as well, and put it on a flash drive, just in case.

Asus bios has some pretty awesome bios features, including an exceedingly simple OC interface. Can overclock everything from memory, to cpu, to the mobo itself... Though I have no experience in OCing a mobo, so I dont understand what benifits I would gain from it :/

Between that, and the catalyst software for my ATI, OCing is probably too easy...

Hey Meandering! It can get tough moving around that much... I'm glad that those days are over for me. And regarding your comment on family... there is an old saying that goes something like this:
"God gave us friends and the devil gave us family" !!!!! :-k

Good luck on the move and I hope it settles down soon for you! :-bd

i chose pennsylvania because its home for me... Plus i have a better chance of getting laid there, and we all know i need all the help i can get :P

anyways, my friends there have been more of a family than me own blood. *sigh* what can you do, eh? I'm happy though, to be associated with such awesome people and decent human beings.

by the way, i have figured out why so much of my family treats me like they do...
and no offense to any mormons when i say this...
but it seems that i piss them off by being me: bum, artist, musician anti-religion-of-any-sort, stoner, gypsy, lover of motorcycles, blues, russians, and animals... While they all want me to be a good little mormon boy, especially since i... Er... I'll leave that bit out...

anyways... Cult anyone?
