Currently, it's very pricey. Particularly, food, housing, transportation (public transport and fuel costs if you drive) and heating, prices are continously increasing.

Some economist on newspapers quote minimum reasonable estimates as:

All weekly:
Small studio flat: £200-220
Heating/cooking/electricity/water charges: £20-25
Food (home cooking, trying-to-survive level) £35-40

Travel is expensive, single bus journey is between 1.40 to 1.60, if you'd be driving then the litre of cheapest unleaded petrol is currently: £1.40-ish

add the phone, tv license, etc as you'd expect to have.

Also,
Council Tax ( you have to pay, and changes from council to council) which ranges YEARLY from £ 650 cheapest to well above £1000.

Where I live its even more expensive. Rent on a very average one bedroom flat is about £600 per month, food costs for a month are probably about £150 a month, all other costs factored in you are looking at needing to earn a good £1200-£1500 a month after tax just to clear normal expenses. At this rate we are all going to be living in tents and shitting under trees.

Damn. That's what? Couple grand a month over here? I just got my truck assigned to me and will get my first load tomorrow. A new era begins and I hope to hell I make enough to support myself living on the road and send home to the wife.

And, 9000 miles later, still going. Lucky to get wifi once a week. In Salt Lake City, Utah waiting to deliver a load to SAMS club. They don't do crap until 9pm. 6:30 now so I wait.

9000 miles! Great distance you've covered in such a short time. Salt Lake City should be interesting, I'd expect. Though, sure it's not an easy thing to do with heavy workload and deadlines, but we'd sure like to see any photos and notes if and when you find a chance, buddy.
