.2001: A Space Odyssey - The closest thing to a religious experience I’ve ever had
.Mulholland Drive - There is something horrific, erotic , primal and mystical about this film. I think it is the best representation of dreamtime on film.
.Citizen Kane - Everything great about film-making in one story. I watch this at least once a year, and I always see something new. Also, like certain Bob Dylan songs, Kane means something different as I progress in different stages of my life.
.The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - What is not to like? Sergio Leone at his best, Morricone’s amazing score, the great trilogy of characters, tight story, beautifully shot and very funny (while also tragically sad).
.Superman - I really did believe a man could fly. Everytime I watch it, I feel young again.
.Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Star Trek at its most intelligent. A lovely retelling of the Frankenstein story. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. And the music….
