DLL hacks

Sorry I kinda forgot about this..
That install of STALKER I was using..um..Asploded. That's what I get for not backing up whenever I try to merge something.. Damn it.
Anyway, now I'm using that STALKER Complete 2009 mod w/ SWO v3, DEXX's blowouts, Arena Extension Mod, a bunch of other things that improve the look/style.
It's kinda nice to play "vanilla" style (storyline and balancing) with the added extras.

I 'stole' the things that modify the saturation and contrast from the 3120 version 'n stuck them in Skygraphics 2.0 RC4.1 or whatever it was. Looks pretty damn good, IMO.

Yeah, I love the Russian STALKER community..they make the most awesome things, in my opinion. They managed to edit the render DLLs to let you use lower (higher?) r__grass_density values.
I have it set at 0.07 in that shot, I believe.

What tools were used to edit the DLL files? I'll find that grass draw distance Where can I download the DLL files? Theres some kind of error in the links already posted (I don't read russian)

I had a program on my computer before the whole shipping damage thing. I had no clue how to use it, so I unistalled it... but I still have the disc somewhere around here........ I'll see if I can send you them programs once I get my computer up and running. Gotta find em first though. (I hate unpacking so much. )

You need a disassembler. Google PE EXPLORER. I have tried it and it disassembles the dll files, but what to do with all the garbled info i dont know, unless there is another program that does better.

Are there any good links for those renderer dlls? for me both links are dead

If anybody wants to disassemble the stalker DLL files, use IDA Pro 4.9. Now, a lil help on how to edit values would be nice. I can't change anything

I haven't worked on DLLs, so I can't offer any tips on this matter. Too much work, little to gain and would be very prone to receiving increased problems from a displeased Xray.
Zenobian worked on DLLs before, but the altered DLLs not quite working on all systems. STALKER is too capricious. What are you planning to do, if you're keeping it as a surprise.

There isn't anything whizz-bang I want to do, just increase grass draw distance and maybe thicken it up a bit. Nothing X-Ray can't handle.

Hmmm, true. If I understood right, you want to go beyond the levels offered by the main menu controls. However, denser grass increases the stutter to an extent, as you know; though it obviously looks better.

Yup. I'm not 100% sure I will increase density, my main aim atm is just to increase grass draw distance. With grass always "popping up" where draw distance is so low it wouldn't surprise me if that increases stutter. Gives X-Ray more work to do.
