I'm going to pull the trigger on Windows 7 (64bit) next month. I like
what I've read and seen about it.

Another Newsa run-through will be needed then.

I'd agree with that. STALKER has always been extremely memory hungry and with some mods which push these boundaries even further, the memory requirement is getting more crucial as well. I've seen the same symptoms. From the starting works of version 3.0, I've got 4Gig RAM Air cooled 1066 MHz Dominators, and noticed that the game suddenly started running much smoother. There was the effect of the graphics card change of course, (which came much larger and faster memory) from 8600GT to Super-overclocked EVGA 260GTX SSC 896 Mb DDR3.

I'm starting it this week. The Enterprise version, getting it from the company that I work with. But still it costs me, too, anyway. I was told that I could "upgrade" to Windows 7 if I had Vista (which I have) without needing to make a clean install. I've got hating this "full new installation/system recovery" thing after I had to do it four times in amont in the Spring, and this month while having another go at 64 bit system prior to jumping to Windows 7 64 bit. That's enough for me. :D

Yup, let's see how this new OS will function when the STALKER/NEWSA is thrown at him (or the way around :D )

I've sent you a PM. As you've played it before, I don't think it can count as a spoiler; nevertheless, I've coded it in Rot13 and if you really want to remember where it was, then you can go to Rot 13:

and decode the answer.

Ok, I sent you a PM. It's great to see that the mod has a re-playability. :D

Yup, FO3 is addictive. It's very very big and many independent things going on. Guns are crap, though. Still, it's one of those games which are based on the enemy's resistance to die/to be killed, other than fighting skills, etc.
If I find time later, I may (who knows) take a shot at FO3 as well. Still, many things/project on STALKER though.

don't get me wrong - still going to roll through the new NEWSA again. Just really enjoying the "build your character" skill tiers, AWESOME voice acting (Liam Neeson is your father - Malcom McDowell is President Eden, the list goes on!) Top shelf graphics (no hiccups) very immersive story line.... quitting now - before I piss everybody off. :-"

Addendum- guns are pretty good when you jack your big gun, small gun, & energy weapon skills to 100. :thumbright:

Started the test run for the patch. I've already entered Yantar. I am taking notes to make a couple of very minor amendments to the patch at the end like some trader list items and stash box items, all going well. :thumbright:

As I've mentioned before on other "Software" thread, I'm running this NEWSA now on Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate and Intel Quad core, utilizing a bulk of 4 Gb RAM -Dominator 8500 at 1066 MHz.

Quad-core is running like a dream! I would not believe it would be so spectacular performance if someone else had told me, really; not particularly after the unbelievably abysmal performance attempts on Vista 32 bit (when running STALKER, of course) this comes like a fresh air.
There's almost no stutter, (Grump642 had mentioned it as well) and all stash boxes, those that are supposed to give something, give what they are supposed to give, in a blink. So fast. There's no delay in spawnings whatsoever.

Quad core and STALKER now go very well together on Windows 7.

Damn game is too difficult. :D I've lost the count of how many times I died until reaching Yantar.

I hope, as things go like this in all fronts of life, it won't take too long.

waiting for something to install.

:D You won't be disappointed with Quad-Core+Windows 7 combination (though I run 64 bit version) there's no delayed spawns in STALKER which had arisen with the use of Quad Core. All smooth now. Have you gone 634 bit as well?

Yes, I'm 64bit also. I don't have a retail version yet so I won't install anything crucial untill the full version comes out.

64 bit? That's good, for the Quads. :thumbright: Quads really do come alive on 64 bit Windows 7. No delays in spawning or anything whatsoever.

Nightwatch. You said that you might put a 44Mag Desert Eagle in your mod. If so, I have been working on a new shot sound for the 44Mag. http://www.filedropper.com/tdeserteagleshot Let me know what you think.

Thanks Grump642. I'm sure it'll be perfect, as I am now adding your "silenced shot" sound for the Groza-NT (it's very good, thanks) :thumbright: but this link goes to the front page of the Filedropper. Have they mixed up the link or is my browsers having difficulty with Filedropper? Can you please check it with Filedropper if the link is still valid?

PS: Magnum 44 will not be coming with this patch, it'll come with the after this one, with the Xtreme ++ version (ould be available on other versions as well) as it would require a new skin and also a possible -slightly-different appearnce to make it distinguishable from the Nite1 High-Power 9mm. So its work is still in progress.

audioave10

Yeah! tell me about it B-) Big guns, big challenges, big enemies, big sounds... All love each other. :D
