I think Filedropper is playing with us, lol. :D Nope, not allowing me further than its main front page. I even copied the link and pasted on an empty tab both on IE and safari, still the same problem. You may try to send it by email to me if its not that big for email transfer or we'll try later again. Don't rush, the patch is not being released today, or tomorrow yet.

Thanks Grump642, I got the sound file. It sounds like quite a 44 mag. (I've checked it on IrfanView) I'll put it in the game tonight and listen it in live game environment as you suggest. Thanks. :thumbright:

UPDATE:

OK, I've listened to it in the game and, although I can't boast with having a very good ear, it sounded very good for me. A heavy, beefy sound it gives. I can definitely use it as a sound on a 44 Magnum, thanks. I renamed the file (as the original desert eagle sound will remain for the Nite1 NEWSA handgun) as to "t_desert_eagle_shot_grump"
But as you may have a better ear than me, if you want to do any alterations on the sound, fine with me.

Just checking news on this forum after five days spent in hospital for the removal of a badly infected or shall I say radiated gall bladder.

It's good to be home and back in the Zone again

Wombat_70, :D Good to hear , that your health is improving. :-bd Get rest and don't push yourself too much. Eat a lot of health pack, lol. :D

DARK TEMPLAR
Thanks for checking. I will release a small patch soon. I know I'm repeating "soon" often nowadays without giving a precise date, but daily life is, well, at least to say, quite demanding on all fronts and I won't release it without running it a full test course. I'm currently about to enter Army Warehouses level. So, we're getting there; any time soon now. :)

Hey there :) I really like this mod because it is so damn hard :D My question is this: Is there a similar mod with horrortime and the brutal random meetings with a group of angry stalkers ? I would very much like to die again for my next Stalker run :-ss

And keep up the good work mate ! :salute:

Hey busetibi
Damn mod is really too hard, lol, which also confirms what Vizze says.
Tonight, I returned to Cordon after realizing that I had forgotten to see Guide (and then the Doctor, of course), then after seeing the Guide I decided to see Sid as well to get some food and stuff. Just when I was approaching the the bridge a heli attacked... So far so good... expected stuff... think again! While I was sheltering the safe side of the bridge, from the opposite direction 2 more helis came... I think it was a tim elike that when the saying "shit hit the fan" was invented, lol. #-o Now total 3 helis are attacking me. Randomness hit the jackpot and I'm at the sticky end of it...

I've noticed that with the Quad CPU, on the contrary of spawn delays seen on Vista, now on Windows_7 64-bit combination (Intel Quad+Win7 64) ,the processor and the game engine are on overdrive, in a way of saying. Almost everything comes at maximum probability levels. And damn helis are moving far too cleverly, at least it appears to me... while trying to get away. :D
OK, I'm literally stuck in Cordon now, I can't shoot down damn things. :-" Maybe I'm a bit tired tonight. I give up for the night. Tomorrow I'll take it from here again.

Vizze
Thanks :salute: Well, similar mod, which is also one of the ingredients (foundations) of this mega-mod/combo is the famous ABC mod, from which this Horror Time has been taken as well as many other features such as random heavy attacks, and various randomness in the game, that I think answers what you are seeking.

Hey again :) I had a look at the 'Supermodpack' .. Wish I hadn't ! The game became totally unplayable .. I took the Faction Warfare custommod, but it didn't seem that wild and random :/ And every time a stalker had to do something, just a few of them, the game would shutter ! Sooo I tried to get your mod again :-" And it works like a charm :)) Died like 20 times in an hour ! I have the full respawnthing, so random evil merc spawns happens.. ohh well ;) Having fun as usual :D One thing I miss a bit is some more guns .. hey I'm a guy :-?? Some of the aresenal guns seems pretty nice. Just a thought . Hoping to see a new version soon :salute:

Vizze

Thanks  :salute:
I realized how how hard this mod is (NEWSA.SIMBION_Tweak) when I got stuck in Cordon under the hellfire from 3 choppers upon my return to see Guide. It took my whole day to get out of the village. I'm just testing the new patch, which is aimed to offer a "North-Jump" feature from Cordon that should work like a "mission filled free-play with fun" in addition to bringing to the mod further various technical improvements and compatibility over more platforms in respect of the reports that on some platforms a spawn-delay was seen when the initial monolith assault should begin upon entrance to Pripyat. The entrance stage is immensely memory and CPU hungry. Although on my system there was no problem (as seen in the Youtube videos) I'm now testing some solution to make it more lively across more platforms.

being squeezed between work pressures and a lot of personal/family matters, I'm progressing on the last testing, and it should be ready soon enough. (soon enough not to cause outrage  )

Following this patch, there's an Xtreme++ version waiting on the work table, which I've been working on it (though as of secondary priority while the fist patch is being completed) then the work on it will intensify.

PS: Your laptop specs are very good, it must be well-put together as well, as being able to play this mod on a laptop is really a testing matter for the manufacturers. It seems you're managing the laptop heath issues very well. A solid machine. :thumbright:

Sounds good :) I might just slip into the world of Dragon Age Origin when I get it on friday :ymblushing: So I can wait ha ha. My laptop has over two years on its back so I'm kind of happy with the performance, eventough I'm getting shuttering sometimes, but that is mostly when hells broken loose :D I couldn't help myself so I got Stalker COP and I must say that i got rather boring .. I got Pripayat and the city was totally empty :/ Not really the thing I hoped for , but then again things might just chance later on.. dunno . But the game has potential ! With some well placed tweaks ;)

A small update on the impending patch:

All efforts done towards technical improvements have been working well with positive response as expected. Particularly introducing the STALKER game and the Mod to the Windows 7 64 bit + Quad CPU combination has proved to be the best thing has ever happened to STALKER yet, spawns and all responses are spectacular (particularly when coming from Vista).

Even the helicopter attack at the entrance of the Red Forest that had not spawned earlier on my old Vista+Quad PC, has now spawned, even even dramatically so, as it coincided with the hellish blowout+horror time. On my Red Forest push, some Hunter Stalkers spawned and kindly accompanied me all along the Devil's Path (if I may call the section between the entrance to RF to the Sniper Tower/Pripyat junction like it).

Cordon-Pripyat optional jump feature works well, too; and -when chosen, (particularly by those who have played the mod in its normal course before) provides a rather interesting and also entertaining a game-play as well, which can be described as Freeplay with immersive non-linear action, as the storyline is presented backwards and essence of pick-and-choose missions become more prominent, which also brings its own challenges to face while following this reversed course.

Also, another important result:

As you know, one of the main aims of this patch was to deal and find a solution to the a random symptom seen on some PCs, which was the late spawning of "Initial Monolith Assault in Pripyat's Snipers Alley." After exhaustive test-runs and application of various scenarios, even gradual revert to vanilla on 3 computers (one as the main PC as above -Win7 64+Quad- and one Vista and an XP laptops in addition) have unequivocally proved that "there's nothing in Pripyat that may cause and effect this symptom. Putting everything summarily, while this symptom has been seen mostly on Vista and XP laptops with Core Duo and Core 2 Duo CPU + average RAMs, and very very rarely on my main PC on the normal course of the game (which is from Brain Scorcher to Pripyat as per the storyline), however, it has NEVER took place when I've jumped from Cordon to Pripyat directly. In this case, all the assault materialized with lighting speed and with immense force, and ferociously, as expected.

So, the problem lies between BS and Pripyat and it's obvious that the game glitches around this section. So, the work was fruitful as proved that the Pripyat is clean. Now I will be looking carefully in the pre-Pripyat section, and the normal course of modding work as to identify and solve the matter so that the all those PCs which can play this mod should play it without having a random "late spawning of Pripyat Snipers Alley Monolith Assault."
There's a very intense (sometimes double) Horror Time occurrence prior to entrance to Pripyat when coming from BS Antennas, this will be a subject that I will be looking at, as the intensity may possibly upset the in-game communication (as to info-portion release and processing. Xray is very sensitive as we all know). I'd like to know, if any of you had played non-Horror time and had this late spawning symptom?

If, after I've isolated the root of the symptom in those pre-Pripyat areas, the required balancing work proves to be too much time and resource consuming (like a game company view: if too costly in terms of time, resources, etc, and not that much worth it f also requires to cut some functions) then, for this instance, I've already developed a number of constancy plans to apply, in fact achieve a better scenario and performance (which I've been keeping it for Xtreme++ options). I might just dropped it, or at least some of it. So, this matter is already in a very good course to be dealt with.

More updates and, hopefully, more frequently, will come as I progress.

You are, as usual, on top of it. I went back to my game to see how it played on this rig. I had already had the delayed spawn thing in this game on my other rig. So when I resumed from a past save, I may have carried the problem with me. If the "problem" was in the saved game info. Hell if I know, but I bet you will figure it out! :thumbright:

Thanks Grump642. All the tests show that the matter is, at some extent, also related with the hardware (like many other things in computer world) and the underlying trigger effect that causes this symptom seems to be aggravated or subdued depending on the power and fluent compatibility of the system. But there's something 'Outside of Pripyat' that somehow triggers this event, which now -as I've now located the area where this arises from- I'll dealing with. I'm adamant that all PCs which are suitable to run this mod should be able to enjoy the Initial Pripyat Snipers Alley Monolith Assault (what a long name, lol, :D ) regardless of their specs differences. I have already a few options in my hand to apply for this situation, and now it's matter of which one is the most doable one without delaying the patch and without cutting any of the functions in that BS-Pripyat section.
