This is in beta atm and will be released with TK 2.ZERO. Give it a read over and let me know if the tips in it sound useful and would be useful to rookies.
STALKER: Twilight K.E.T. 2.ZERO
Tips guide
Welcome to STALKER: Twilight K.E.T. 2.ZERO tips guide. As you might guess, this guide is being written by ME, the author of TK to help less skilled (read: crap players) get the most out of TK 2.ZERO.
1. Stealth is your friend. I have taken a thorough approach to bring the most realistic stealth system STALKER can provide. By realistic, I'm not talking simply editing NPCs vision distance which screws them up, so if your having difficulty, try the stealth approach. Silence over shooting, if you will.
2. Gaining money. Loot everybody and everything. In particular, keep your eyes peeled in the agroprom underground and when looting Zombies, there might just be things of extreme value...
3. Armour. After specific points of the game special armours will become available. Check your local stockists regularly!
4. Traders. All traders have a "preferred" area they buy and sell in, paying more than other traders do. Example: Barkeep pays best for med supplies, drinks and foods, while the scientist at yantar pays best for artifacts. Experiment.
5. Enemies too hard to kill? Think again. This is the Zone, all enemies are ARMOURED. Instead of bodyshots, aim for the legs, or head. A change of ammunition type may also be required.
6. Guns. Consider your firearms carefully. You may want a assault rifle with good enough accuracy to double as a "cheap" sniper rifle. Saving on both items and weight needing to be carried. Selecting 2 weapons that use the same ammo type may also prove fruitful. For example the MP5 (fits in pistol slot) and Groza (can make use of 9x19mm bullets, as it can be barreled for in real life).
7. Weapon / Artifact attachments. Weapon attachments are particularly effective in TK. Scopes, silencers and grenade launchers can be fitted to a great multitude of weapons as well as giving a considerable tactical advantage. BEWARE, it's not always wise to leave your silencer attached. The silencer may make you difficult to detect (yes, silencers DO actually muffle your weapons) but as silencers do in real life, your weapons hit power is effected, so if you get discovered, no point in leaving that silencer on. Take it off and let the enemies feel the full power of your gun. Artifacts can also give you a great advantage, be sure to pick the right ones for your objective. The mamas bead artifact may be wonderful in providing bullet protection, but what good is that protection against enemies using armour piercing bullets? You'll perhaps be better served with a few extra med kits.
8. Explore. You never know what you may find...
9. Experiment. That one man killing machine status your looking for could be just one weapon / attachment away..
10. Don't get greedy. Greed leads to death.
Good hunting, Stalker.
