Heh, reading your post triggered a memory. Around 1981 I went driving in the Black Hills of South Dakota one late Spring/Early Summer day. It had been unusually warm and wet (usually cold and wet at the time). Pulling into a small roadside park simply to enjoy a beautiful day, as we kicked around it suddenly dawned on me that there were dozens and dozens of orange mushrooms and a small but not inconsiderable number of purple/blue mushrooms growing in the park.

We ended up with two grocery bags full of psylocibe cubensis and psylocibe cyanescens. We actually made mushroom and cheese omelets. The blue 'shrooms looked absolutely otherworldly sitting in eggs and cheese.

Oh, god. Psilocybe (isn't psilocybe the chemical, and psilocybin the mushroom with psilocybe in it, or the other way around?) is an amazing drug. Too bad I quit two years ago. First time I ate mushrooms was at a laser-show, playing Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon.... T'was a blast!
