Er... I only play against people... but you can be on our team!!! Jamie is pro at rushing out the Armour, and I am damned good Arty/Infantry micro-manager... From what you say, I'm guessing you are more of a defensive player? That'd be great I think! Me an jamie can handle the big armies, while you work your way around to get the stragglers and Victory Points!

Im sure playing against AI can be fun. I did it all the time on Dark Crusade with friends

I guess I am defensive sort of. I do tend to try and rush with a big army after gathering lots of resources but from what I remember of my dow tactics I end up building defensive bases. As long as I am not Eldar. Not that I hate them they just the stealth type that I suck with.
Just be aware that I normally end up dying alot

dying is fine. And I suck with Eldar as well. I have in every iteration of DoW... Except in the first... I had this strategy that I called "FUCKING SPIDERS!" because that's what people often said when I used it on 'em. Would build as many squads of spiders as humanly possible, then build the falcon grav tanks with Brightlances on 'em. Ambush the infantry, jump out before taking serious damage, then fly in the falcons... Wait a second, pull back the falcons, allow jump/warp abilities to recharge... then hit em with the whole force... This tactic would decimate the most rediculous of terminator armies and such... In fact, the only time it didn't work for me was when a bloodthirster would fly into my retreating units. But the majority of the time, I played Chaos... I would line up ranks of defilers in "Attack Ground" stance and use their arty to rediculous effect... Then charge in with posessed marines and Chaos marines with plasma guns... It's amazing. I have actually yet to see anyone else the Defiler's secret strength in ranged combat. You thought they could tear through things in melee, just watch what they do when they hold their ground, pounding long range units with arty, hitting medium range units with their autocannons, and burning anything in cover... SIMULTANEOUSLY. Who the hell needs a baneblade when I got a 5 gun mechanical monster that I can build 10 of?

So as the whole thing goes, Jamie's start-game is amazing. Like I said, he is pro at getting armour out faster than... well... anyone I have ever played with or against... Me, I have a good middle-game, but seriously lack in the beginning (I'm wokring on that though). As soon as I hit tier 2 with my nids, though... Watch out! Just the other day I had someone throw 3 dreddies at me, then laughed manically as they sputtered and burned before they even reached my line of Venom Broods and Warriors! The dude was PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSED. (I have it recorded too So, knowing this... What would you do if you were on our team?

By the way, I'm cool with any strategy you choose. I'm pretty flexible.

From what you described there I think we fit a 3 man team well. As I seem to have a good late-game but tend to fail mostly everywhere else

What does Jamie do after his amazing start-game rush? Does he just build lots of armour units?

I guess if im in the team I be the resource gathering and build defenses so we don't go down. Then I just building lots of units and attack in one big force (happens late in the game most of the time).

Im not sure if my tactics will work in dow2 though so I need to check on this and improve my skills

And of course those tactics of yours sound pretty dangerous. I may want to go watch that video

Well... Jamie just keeps up amazing pressure. You'd be surprised what kind of havoc a single Carnifex or Predator Tank can wreak in the first 3 minutes of the game... and it only gets worse as more and more armour and heavies roll out. Jamie is kinda like Brad Pitt's character in snatch... One punch out of fucking nowhere and you're seeing stars.

Hey y'all! I woke up this morning bored to death... (very serious thing for a modder) and decided to dust off a old game and fire it up! I started gaming with Doom3, Half Life2, and Far Cry... and I really enjoyed those games. Anyhow, Far Cry has always been one of my favorites and I wasn't involved with mods or modding when I played it. So I downloaded a mod for the game just to get a peek at how it was done and to my surprise it was very similar to STALKER!!! Script files, LUA files, DDS , etc.... HMMMM!!!!

So... it is retro time now and I am gonna start tinkering with a mod for Far Cry.... of course it will be a R&G style mod like the ones I did for STALKER and Fallout3...

I will keep you posted on how it goes!

Yep... one of mine also! Anyhow, I got a few things done already... in the true R&G fashion:

Sprinting is much faster, climbing and jumping improved, damage to player is eliminated for small falls, weapons are more accurate and powerful, player can carry more ammo and explosives, more ammo in drops, zoom feature of weapons is stronger.... and still working on a few more things like the default cross hair in the HUD (I really hate that pale yellow color).
And NO audioave... I haven't figured out the mutant spawns yet!!!!!

If y'all want to get prepared for the mod, install the standard FarCry and patch it to v1.33.... do NOT use the 64 bit version! Things are a bit different for it as I already found out and had to rework a bunch of stuff and re-install FarCry!!!!

When you are ready, let me know and I will post what I have. I really don't know how much further I will take it because the original game was pretty well thought out and I cannot think of anything else I want to "improve" upon.... if anyone has any suggestions let me know!

I don't think I'd want anymore of THOSE mutants in the game. Can you put in a few more of the normal mercs/soldiers or is that still part of spawning?
Otherwise, the player improvements already sound good. This way, you can crank up the difficulty more. My patch is 1.4 so I'll look for the 1.33.

I think that the 1.4 patch was primarily for multi-player fixes and it was reputed to mess up some of the single player features. That sounds familiar, eh???
I'm still fighting with some HUD issues... the crosshair and the grenade counter. The grenade counter is strange... it will only show 9 grenades of each type no matter how many you actually have! The default amount is 6 grenades so I might just set it at 9 and leave it at that.
The weapon changes seem to make the game a bit more difficult. Sure, you can plaster the heck outta the bad guys... but they can plaster you right back! I did a little armor tweak and that seems to help make your armor last a little longer. With the normal armor health setting it got toasted almost immediately in a firefight.
I really like the extended ranges that put on the weapons and the increased zoom effect. You can do some really long range sniping with them now.
So... the short story is that I made quite a bit of progress this weekend and hopefully I can finish it up by next weekend.
