I knew TS was writing these so I was hoping someone would post them. He has been Beta-testing for awhile now.

Those two were from the Mod db site, I do not go near those places unless I absolutely have to, hopefully they will continue posting them on MDB as well.

Just returned from Agroprom area to the Garbage i decided to go on a bypass route shorter and i ventured through a wooded area to reach the next destination, walking slowly through the woods i heard footsteps, i looked back and saw mutantas six blinddogs and one psydog, seeing some tall stone blocks i have fled to them in the hope i will climb up on one of the blocks and kill them there i start to shot 2 fire in the air in hope they will be scared and will run ,one of them managed to attack me ,hurt me pretty bad..,the ammo was limited and not allowed me to scatter in the wind ... i managed up the one block stone, mutants became more aggressive but i was up and they could not reach me there ,started to shoot fire with fire, my ammo getting low ,one blind dog remains shot him in the back and fell down ...,the bleeding getting worse ,..this is bad ,i walked fast back to the road hoping that i meet another stalker who can give me in exchange for food a bandage and a medikit, but the evil just started just a few feet in front to the left on the road i see zombies ,they are to many and seem unfriendly at all ,I took the knife out and try to sneak without being seen ,i have managed to bypass a few zombies ...,and hide after one broken bus ..damn zombies they are everywhere...the situation become worse and worse ,no one came to that road to help me ,i falling down and make a little noise ,one of the zombies notice that and alerted the others ...no ammo left just the knife ,soon the zombies surrounded me...the end was near

Stalker Diary #3----- I was leaving the Agroprom fully loaded. Not really a wise decision not to have the ability to be able to sprint a good distance to attack or escape danger. No excuse other than the greed of a backpack full of plundered supplies, better weapons and found artifacts. I traveled the road eastward towards Garbage as dusk set. As I entered the Garbage level it was night and not the best place to linger in indecision. Do I go north to see if Duty will now let me pass to Rostok or south to the safety of the Cordon where Sidorovich awaits me? A safe path was known going south but the way north was more difficult. Just once had I taken a shortcut behind the Hanger cutting along the edge of a wooded area with a rock abutment to keep my back to for safety. I had heard some mutant dogs but had not seen them.
Now it was pitch black and I quickly left the road and scambled up the steep hill at the edge of a barbed-wire fence. I reached the top and the trees became thicker. I heard dogs at the bottom and decided not to turn on my headlamp and give myself away. I went as far as I could until I came to the edge of a vertical drop and had no choice but to carefully walk along the edge descending now east to the wooded area below. This was the most dangerous point. To be able to slip past the mutants and then back north. I stumbled along and then darted around the crevice to horizontal ground. No sooner had I changed my direction when I heard the growl of a creature that was not a dog. I whipped around to face 2 huge white crescent-shaped eyes just a meter from me. My AKS-74U was ready and I blasted away at point blank range. I turned on my headlamp and saw the lifeless body of a Chimera before me. This is not what I was expecting and terror quickly filled my mind as I knew they rarely traveled alone. I immediately extinguished my headlamp and briskly continued northward with my gun facing to the rear as I walked. The seconds passed like minutes and the minutes like an hour as I made it back to the Hanger. Never again would I use this path like this at night.

The video looks good...TS says the 3rd person stuff was just a PR trick. I sure wish they would finish it. It has to be getting close any time now.
I'm ready for all the old maps.

Some kind of version will be released near the end of this month ... apparently some dipshits did not take their position as a play tester seriously, leaked material and messed up quite a few plans, mainly the 'LA being published as an official addon/installment'.

I guess its back to being a Mod only...although I think its still a standalone game itself.
The leak caused GSC to back out of any possible support. I'm not sure how bad that is since GSC is one person and a lawyer or two.
I guess the Dez team lost a chance to get some more money that way which is unfortunate.
I'll just be glad to play something new on the 26th or shortly after.

I've played it a little on my 2nd PC - an older AMD quad/core with a GTX 480.
ModDB has 4 parts to download. Just extract Part 1 and it will extract & install the game for you. Fully standalone game of 14.7GBs.
Beautiful and very lush with many new maps and older maps have huge changes - impressive.
in options, go to "game" and disable "show actors shadow" ...causes crashes.
I would suggest using hard/named saves only and you can't remap F6 & F7 quicksave and quickload (I don't use them anyway).
There are some little quests that are bugged, but Dez0wave are already preparing patches and will support the game.
The Military will be RED but will tell you to stay on the road and you can pass all areas.
I've no time to play more and learn more for now. Ambience sound and immersion are excellent.
There is a full Lost Alpha thread under Stalker SHOC at GSC...and boy is it busy!
Look there for more help.
its hard on the PC but use DX9 and it still looks great - lower grass density a lot and disable grass shadows (lots of grass anyway)
Its a new experience in the Zone.

Granted this new laptops hardware is better than my old ones, it seems it still isn't good enough to properly run LA, though that may partially be because of the shoddy OS ... but I'll be home soon enough to run it on the desktop.

Trying to play it but my default Mak and a Toz 34 shotgun pickup will only use the rounds in them when acquired. I have over 100 12x70 shotshells and nearly 100 9x18 rounds but my knife quickly becomes the only weapon I can use

You have to put the ammo boxes on your belt.

(unless I misunderstood your problem ...ed: or you haven't already figured it out yourself)
