It may be the DVD boxset of My Name is Earl that I am watching, but I feel the need to share....

My PC build has so far been a disaster, with incompatible parts, incorrect deliveries, late deliveries and anything you can think of....

The final straw was after having received all the parts, building the PC with OCD style attention to detail (I think there are about 40 zip ties in there....) I came to the final piece.

Plugged the monster GTX280 in, and what do you know, it needed an 8 pin PCI power connecter, and my £100 power supply had not come with one!! Looked for converters, £20 from an ebay merchant is the only one I could find..... could not wait that long. Corsair can supply them for my modular PSU, but guess what, 4 days to respond to an e-mail and 5 day shipping.

Me and my brother went down to our local PC World (for those who don't have a PC World in their region, its like the EA of computer stores). Checking all the power supplies, the only one that came with the cable I needed was £150 and of inferior quality to that I already had....

Then my bro noticed it had modular power cables, so I went and distracted the tech guys, while he popped the box and lifted the cable I needed. It was a thank you for me building his new PC this weekend.

Everything running fine, Vista 64 is currently installing....

Oh, and don't go buying any 550w PSU's from PC World in Birmingham for a bit....

One last thing, my mouse mat needed replacing so I grabbed one while I was there, call it guilt maybe, but when they charged my £13 for a crappy mat I decided I deserved the power cable!!

Yeah, 280s need 8 pin cable, none of us remembered it while you were talking about building your PC. But as it seems it's completed now. Congratulations. Let's see how 64 bit does to games and other stuff. :)

EggChen, next time you can check online Scan.co.uk, which is as you may know one of the biggest -if not the biggest- online PC components and basically everything shop. I usually shop from there, so I can recommend it by experience. Prices are much much cheaper than PC World, they deliver with light speed. On some cases, an evening shopping came withing 48 hours and it wsa a normal delivery choice not express.

PS: watching My Name is Earl, ha? :D I'll watch one or two episodes after the dinner, too.

Yo guys, just thought I'd give you guys a heads up.
I am moving, so I'll be offline for a while. I gots to hold my internet subscription until all the heavy lifting is done :)
Seriously, I have thousands of books. And right now I'm looking at them going "uuuuuuuuuh... :-k"
I think I need a f*ing crane for this shit...
Anyways, I'll be around for another week or so, but then I'll just randomly dissappear for a couple o weeks. And after all this packing, lifting, smoking, smoking some more, and unpacking, then celebrating with mandatory vodka and tattoos, I'll be back.

So, what you all up to?
LOOK! It says gullible on the ceiling!!!

Hey Guys

In this part of London, as we're told, DNS server router has had power failure since 8 am this morning, it's now 18:50 GMT and wee've just got the signal. But it's weak and cutting-off randomly. So, I'm posting this note quickly to let you know that we (people in this area, wchich undoubtedly includes me, too :) ) may not have a full uninterrupted line until late night. Hope things get better quickly. I coudn't even check my emails fully yet. :)

I may need a little help with finding an old game i want to play.. Now i do like playing a lot of old games (well actually it may look like a few considering how many there are). Today i jsut remenbered this game one of my bros played and i liked it but never played and want to play it. Problem being is no one knows whats it called and what you have to do on it. I think the view is like the sims, crusader (not the graphics but the view although graphics may be similar to crusader not sure..)

You mean like an isometric view??

If so it could be any number of games, any more detail?

What did the characters look like, how old is it, fighting, exploring, shooting, etc??

OK, it seems today we've started the game with full internet connection back. :) Yesterday some parts of London (the parts of busy sections) were without internet connection. What was going on, no news on TV or on anything. We were told that it was about DNS servers power failures. OK...
--------------

So my connection back, although everybody has already noticed, another one of the renowned members of STALKER community, who is also a well-regarded modder, Victim has joined our forum as well. Welcome Victim. :hello1:

I remember you've returned to Canada from Russia? Am I correct?

You were posting some good travel pictures, you can post pictures here as well, a couple of picture threads available, "Where are you from" can be used for touristic visits as well, I'd guess, as long as you were the one who was holding the camera :)

Hey Nightwatch, yeah it was a great game, played it through again right after. :) That;s strange about CoD 4 I always hear good things about it. I guess some didn't though. :)

Yeah I returned to Canada from Russia in 2004, been living in Southern Ontario for a few years now. I am going to school for system security, Network admin stuff. I got back into computers after working with Gateway and Dell after returning to Canada :) Wife is happy here I guess, misses home though. Hell I miss Russia everyday and it isn't even my home, sure felt like it though. :(

I have lots of pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them. :) Not a lot of activity here, but I guess this is mainly a forum for modders correct? I would like to get into creating some skins for SoC and Clear Sky, have some great ideas for Monolith skins, but I have no experience. :(

Hey Darkness62, glad to see you're doing OK back at home. Ontario, as I remember from the pictures, is a very great looking place.
Sure post your pictures, it'll be pleasure to see interesting places.

Well, this is not a forum only for modders or mainly for modders, it's a STALKER community forum, much like GSC main forum, for modders and players alike, and for those who like being in STALKER community:)

We have a thread here, on this Round Table section: "Where are you from?"
Post them there, if you want add captions, stories. You can post pictures directly into the pages/post. Check the BBCode link on left of your posting box for the guide how to post them such, if you don't have experience on phpBB forum features, but I guess you'd have after all you're teh one who's working on system securuty, what am I talking about:) but please keep them around 600x480 pixels, otherwise page stretches too much.

About the skins: That's very good to hear that you're thinking about creating some Monolith skins. I think they'll be received with great interest. Why don't you speak with jamie1992, he's done some skins before and currently working on that subject as well. (not monolith skins, though, as far as I'm aware)
------

On another note, whne you mentioned that your wife misses home. Isn't she Russian? If so, she might maybe wish to help me in on ematter, I have about one and a half page, loosely wriiten Russian game dialog from SIMBION mod. After translating several dozen pages up to now using software and brain-ware :) I got too tired, and it's very difficult to make a sense of the software translation after all. Well, if she is not available, no problems at all, just enquiring :)
