Update: Crysis Warhead

Postby audioave10 on 24 Sep 2008 05:55

Crytek is now stating that you can install on 5 different PC's as many times as you want. That's better...and no disc in the drive after install.
It's not the best it can be but I can deal with that.

I did some serious reading about the DRM fiasco and now will also not
ever buy Warhead or any other EA game.
Good News: A respectable law firm in California is suing EA because it's
DRM can't be removed and is considered "malware" which is illegal to
install on someone's PC without their knowledge.

no, but as Nightwatch lives in England and he's the only mod/admin so only he can remove that garbage. I think it's only 6.04 AM in England atm, he's more than likely still asleep, no doubt he'll remove it when he finds it

OK, Guys, those offenders were banned/ cut off. All IP addresses received and emails banned as well.
They were all from Russia, no matter given false locations such as Uganda and Finland.
Lawyers are now on the case and Russian authorities will be informed of this in a few hours time. As a journalist, I have very strong ties on international basis.

Allowing registrations only through the admin facility would not stop such attacks, as in some countries -in fact most of the world- getting email accounts are very easy and if I allow anyone after not only one day, even after a week, he can still post such offensive nature. Unless getting someone’s landline phone number and/or his/her credit card number, there is no way to learn anyone's identity for sure at the registration stage. But I find getting such detailed information is against the democratic nature of the Internet and only plays into the hands of some totalitarian approaches.

But, when any such offence is made, there are always ways to deal with them, particularly when those offences are of the criminal nature.

In such cases, though they might keep it to themselves, authorities -namely: prosecutors, police, Interpol, etc- will have access to IP (Internet Service Providers) logs which they have to keep those under the international law.

There are only a couple of DNS servers in the world and they keep all transmissions at all times under log.

When a crime/offence is committed as described under the law, they will provide those traces to the authorities.

That's how the FBI and others trace and catch/prosecute some hackers who hack Federal Reserve, etc.
(I'm not saying if what they do is right or wrong here; the matter is not about it. I'm just giving the facts)

So, everything is under control. As long as low some low-life people exist in this world, any kind of low-life thing can happen everywhere. The problem is related with creating a more quality people, and that's for another discussion.

Yup. Another piece of info: They do not look like casual criminals from Russia, they knew how this board operates.
Additional measures will be in place soon. They maybe want me to stop allowing advanced features on post. We'll see. :clock:
