Yep I meant that one.

It is by far the best nightvision I have tried, but I suppose it could be very dependent on user.ltx settings... I also used an older version of Float32, so we could have wildly different experiences of it I suppose, Stalker is nothing if not inconsistent :p

I found the improved green and blue ones a lot better as well, so I used them for direct replacements, adding the gray one as a third nightvision to some of the unique suits.

Edit : Nightwatch - I'm having no joy with the SDK on Vista, but I am installing it on my dad's PC next weekend (I promised Russao I would do something for him). Send me the file(s) and I will have a go at that as well.

Great :thumbright: You mean the both files? The CS ppe (Nightvision) and the music file? It should be, as you say plural, #-o OK, I'll send them both.

That must be true, because I've found that Andersen's nightvision is great indoors, very clear, but -must be due to my video settings- when it's activated outside in dim light cond, in dark shadows, late evening, etc, (not in total dark) then it's too bright. A bit less contrast would fit my system better. As I can only look at my own screen and can't see how it looks on others, so I can't say it definitely, though.

Wombat_70
Yeah, it was my initial plan, too; to wait for the i7 Intel, but my PC did not have the same anticipation and decided to fry itself up.
I was told by many guys here, that STALKER and other games were not good on Quad_Core, and so it is proven now. But I needed a Quad, for I use the PC for intensive applications as well. But, frankly, I have to be honest, I hadn't expected so dreadful performance on STALKER (or vice versa). :-Q

Guys,
I'm in trouble in Pripyat...with a damn APC!

Now there's an APC in Pripyat, (in XTR mode) in snipers Alley, which pops out from one of the side streets. But, as I found out last night, it makes my life miserable, this is an understatement.
You will need to go through the Alley maybe a few times over in order to save your skin and the Walk-buddy Stalkers there. I have started to think if it's too much? I'd like to keep it as a surprise :ymdevil: but I think now I need to ask.

What do you think, would you like to see an APC harassing your way in Pripyat's Sniper Alley?

The Pripyat APC came out of the side street and ran over the Stalkers, hit and run! Then it shot me. Damn bas**rd! :D I was just looking how things were going, well, it showed me.lol. :D

I changed the destination of one of level changers in Cordon, the one next the to barn after the bridge that goes to Agroghom, so now it goes directly to Pripyat. I'm checking the APC's movement and attack logic. The thingy is in all.spawn, so I have to restart a new game each time and skipping to Pripyat direcly. I hate all.spawn. Only this APC among all the others that I've put in v3.0 is in all.spawn. The others are easier, manageable on-the-fly.

(PS: those repetitive Xray pathway handling (vanilla origin) crashes that are seen in Pripyat have been eliminated, as I previously mentioned.)

Leave it in :)
lets face it, if you haven't got your weapons, armour, artifacts right by now (able to handle anything the game throws at you) then you shouldn't be doing the Pripyat run.
so yea :ymbringiton:

I find the snipers are not too hard. I use either SVD pup or the Vintorez. Biggest problem I have in this area is CTD's. Due mostly to Xray can't handle the sheer numbers. Hell, put it in, I say.
On the nightvision, I had not tried messing with my contrast, since the game looked good to me. Maybe I will try a change in that, just to see.
Edit: Just noticed your later post on CTD's. :))

Hmm.. currently views are unanimously favoring the Pripyat APC. We have a very heroic group of folks here. :salute:

On another note: Now those Pripyat Snipers do come down the roofs right onto the street (on all v3.0 modes). So, it's even more difficult to deal with them as they are not standing targets in the middle of rooftops. They ambush you from behind the abandoned cars and all those junk around.
very festive scene, and the APC sits at the drums. :D

edit: Andersen's nightvision is quite good indoors, very clear. But has high contrast ( as it appears to me) so it's difficult to use it on outside in dim light, it gets too bright.
To be fair, it represents a truer version of nightvisons, as it it is true that you cannot use a nightvision when there are light sources around. But as I'm a daylight loving person, I usually turn on nightvisions in dim light situations, on out locations, too. I don't think messing with your Screens contrast can help reducing nightvision contrast in outdoor locations.

OK, Guys, Pripyat APC is here to stay. You will need to work much harder to save the skins of those Stalker whom you walk with if you want a trader inside the undreground carpark.

I'm changing the Cordon barnside level changer back to "exit" to "Agroghom" and Pripyat APC test has finished, it seems it's doing pretty good there. :ymdevil:

PS: For those who have finished the v3.0 (when they've finished) I can send this file with a changed Level Changer which would enable you to skip back to Pripyat in Freeplay, if anybody wants then. But finishing the game and getting back to Cordon on foot will be a prerequisite for it. :mozilla_wink:

audioave10

I know you won't stop yourself from playing the XTR version, and don't worry, you'll do just fine. You'll have very big guns as you progress in the game, but, hey, so will almost everybody. The good old saying still rules here: Who draws fast wins. :D

I've emailed the CS Nightvison and Heli Attack Scene music piece for the editing. Thanks buddy. :thumbright:

True, it will not reduce contrast like you say. However, brightening up my screen some, seems to have the effect of brightening up the nightvision some. At least it seems to, to my eyes.
And I don't care if they are on the roof, or on the ground! THEY WILL DIE!! :ymdevil:

Thanks Ultradad and also sorry for giving an impression in my post as if the mod has been released. But it's very soon now. Actually I am the only one who is debugging and testing and doing all that stuff. I have found it easier this way, hands-on approach, in a way. Testing a things and making a change if needed, testing and then all the way around. That sort of work. I can deal with a situation immediately this way. But it all has finished now.
Grump642 wrote:And I don't care if they are on the roof, or on the ground! THEY WILL DIE!! :ymdevil:

That's the sprit.

Yes... and.. it's a news for everybody, too:

News: The mod has finished.

I've returned to Pripyat and (in addition to the previously done over 45 -real- hours of testing there) I again stayed a few more hours and walked backed to the Bar. Needless to say, it was not a walk in the park, cost me spend all my ammo. But now I'm having a cold drink with our good old friend Barman there. :)

News:
The new bulk of translation earmarked for v3.0 have arrived.

Out of a 7000 word work, which separated to a few files, a massive part of it with over 5000 words English translations has arrived. When I read the translations now, I realize even more how difficult this undertaken must have been, as the original dialogs and text were not such an easy material to deal with in the first place. The due respect and gratitude for such efforts therefore require even a greater appreciation and thanks when it's taken account that the translator and the translation liaison were not from any modding community and, in fact, they have not even played STALKER at all yet.
They are hard working Law Students, being lawyers at the end of this year, and the translator is of course a Russian Law Student here, so the quality of the translations cannot be better than this.

**********************************************************************************

Here, I would like to thank, for their unselfish efforts, to:

Anna Antipova -translations

and Aylin Berenti (translations liaison)

***********************************************************************************

Next:
--I'll make a few amendments on trader lists, one day's work
--I'll need to film in-game videos as I lost them all when my PC was strangled by Vista last week. A few days work, cutting, pasting, etc.
--I need to re-do/redesign the Website, one or two days work
--I have to write a read me file, don't like it but needs to be done, one/two days.
--I lost Inno Set-up files, so I need to open Inno and sort out the complicated structure of offering 4 Modes in 831 Mb (one version only) Mod.

Yes, Final sizes:
Non-Extreme versions: 827 Mb (each)
EXTREME version: 831 Mb
Total set-up before compression (apprx) will be 850-860 Mb (by using the same main pool of files in selective to the Mode chosen)

More news later, guys.
