Nightwatch wrote:Hey Ultradad, if I'm not mistaken when reading your log, I think you have Quad-Core 3GHz? As this is a typical Quad-Core problem, so it makes sense. If the APC is working, from the game point of view, everything is OK, but one or two of the cores are delaying the spawn. Entry to Pripyat is very CPU-heavy process, (it has always been, in vanilla as well. In fact in this mod, it's even a bit lighter). I have seen the symptom after chancing to Quad-Core from pentium D, too. After you've entered the level, make a quick-save and load, repeat it a few times along the way. Your OS is also 64 bit, as it seems, which needs to be seen if it affects further in any way, make it worse or not together with Quad-Core.
Try save-load a few times, you may need to try entering the level a few times, too, while waiting to get lucky with the CPU.
I had tried affinity on my Quad, but couldn't notice any real effect of it.
My game had been flowing like a fast river with Pentium D, then I changed to Quad, now I can go get a cup of coffee sometimes while waiting some spawns to arrive.
MS is supposed to be releasing a range patches in a week (SP2 for Vista, I guess there'll be something along the way for XP as well) but it is yet to be seen if those hotfixes will be of any help for multi-core gaming problems.

Hello there :thumbright:
Thanks for getting back to me about the problem nightwatch :thumbright: . I am using a e2140 @3ghz but its a dual core with 1 mg lvl 2 cache. I been reading the problems you guys having with quadcore which is a shame :mozilla_frown: . I am a tight git and built a bang for your buck system but didnt go cheap on the motherboard  . Its a P35 DS4 r1.1 and i have upgraded the memory to 4 gig and got a 4850 but have been looking at one last upgrade the cpu. Dont want to spend to much so i kinda fancy the E5200 as my motherboard can take it and its got 2mg lvl 2 cache heres the link to it on overclockers

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-251-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=793

You guys know the game better than anyone, would more lvl 2 cache help?. I been reading that it helps with games and framerates (FPS).I am waiting till end of year to build a new gaming system so this will be my last upgrade i think, gonna give it to my son (the bugger can buy it off me for christmas :ymdevil: ) Gonna have a run round pripyat and see what nasty things nightwatch has been upto :ymdevil:

You're getting too much working-out yourself, buddy. This, pos_word thingy is an extremely rare issue, only known to happen a few people. You are currently the only one, (you say jamie is having as well, ok) but STALKER is a mysterious game in some ways  You say you had OL before, one version of OL as I know changes at least one DLL, there may be other mods that might have done similar things in your directory before. So, I'd recommend that you uninstall the whole STALKER and install the mod again. And if you change the "mode" of the mod, (though not a strict requirement) it's always better to delete the gamedata and install the version of mode clean.

Would it affect my saves at all if I did a total reinstall of the game plus the mod? I know it might try to wipe any save games from C drive where it stores them if I uninstall, so it makes sense for me to copy and paste, but if it was just the .dll thing or whatever, would it still be safe to continue playing my current game? I really don't fancy restarting once again, what with having gotten out of that cycle. I don't mind the whole reinstalling thing, of course, but I hope it would be okay to continue with my current saves.

Also, I'm not that upset about the CTD, but being obsessive, I do like to explore the things thoroughly. I also always delete gamedata folders or move them to another folder completely, out of my Stalker folder. The only mod recently that altered a file outside of gamedata was SmP 2.2.5, but I reinstalled after that.

Ultradad...I went with the E8500 (6mb cache) and its a big difference!
However, I haven't done THIS mod yet. Glad I spent the extra money.

Your're welcome Ultradad. The spawn delay issue is peresent in Core 2 Duo dual-cores as well to an extent, but it's pretty worse in Quad-Cores, to a level that STALKER ( and many other games) may be unplayable without proper hotfixes from Microsoft.
as it seen in audioave10's case, he says that additional cache in CPU proves to helpful.

Wombat_70
Great! I was just resizing the pictures from the guys for the web update and got your bundle now as well.
Hopefully, I'll manage to do it by night time.

Well, I think I had to reload *at least* 20 or so times in Cordon when I was saving Petruha. Yep, those APCs are just evil.

Plus...I had a weird graphical bug last night. In Cordon, at the disused car park...

Do quantum singularities form in the Zone on occasion, by any chance? =))

When I move left or right, it appears that the distortion lessens. At least, when I move physically. Just looking around doesn't seem to do much.

Also...

And...

*How much is that doggy in the window...* :ymdevil:

Sorry guys, I have next week off work, but of course that means I'm working twice as hard and almost twice as long this week.... only just got back B-(

I'm gonna get a good chance this weekend, and it gives more time for some really high scores to come in. Are you all OK waiting?

Question...I've gotten the 5 blind dog tails for Tolik, yet the task won't complete. I tried both blind dog tails and the firebite tails, but nothing. Where should I look to see if I can find out what might be causing this? Maybe the wrong monster part has been assigned to the task, but the write-up says blind dog tails? It's happened before, I remember other mods where you had to get one mutant body part, but the write-up said something different.

Congratulations Ultradad :thumbright: You've made it to Freeplay in one piece. Some majestic explosions on those photos, you've demolished all the heavy armory an NPP grounds.

fiznerpin1962 after taking the docs, you can detour through Agroghom-Cordon, there's a level chenger in Agro far-south-east, if I've not lost my compass sense.

Wombat_70
When you sell something (or a number of things) that totals over 100000RU, game sometimes gets stuck, it's vanilla. Try selling stuff in bundles, each of which less than 100000RU. Now, it's already happened to you there, you can either reload an earlier save and go through it again, or you can sell him stuff while at the same time buying stuff from him. A sort of barter type. Do it more or less eqiuall amounts, buying more from j=him, will be more appreciated by the game engine and by Sakharov alike.

Kaidonni
Broken quests, like the vanilla side mission one you mentioned, are vanilla matters. This mod does not repair all vanilla side-mission problems, it's not set out for it. ZRP is the king on this. :thumbright:

Good photos, clear shots. Particularly that long distance view is nice. Take some photos, Your Corner is rather empty a bit.

Heavy Work EggChen, ha? #:-s :D Too much work and work pressure at job are said to have some negative effects in one's health, as we all heard. Try not to get stressed too much, buddy. We can all wait, no problem. I've updated some new pictures on the Corner, yours too. When you frie up the game again, don't forget to capture some more shots. I've got a few more pics from you in the back page, I'll put them as well along with others during weekend.

Well, I went back to see Lukash to collect my reward for killing a neutral stalker. As I was leaving the base, I found poor Skinflint's body. I did not know when or how he died, found his body halfway to the Duty house, so I could only loot it. :-? I would have thought he was more restricted in his movements then that.
In Cordon, after killing the Stalker for Lukash, I swung by Rookietown. Everyone was dead. Even Fanatic and Tolic. I could not find the dynamite anywhere. Hope it wasn't being held by someone.

Poor Skinflint  But it must've provided one hell of a loot (if not anyone befoer got the most of it, though)
Everyone in the AW base are subject to move out and confront the enemy.

edit
ps: check the bodies for the dynamite, someone must've lilfted it up. But I guess you've already don ethat. Check the traders.
PS 2: Dynamite now explodes in version 3.0 if you fire at it or throw it into the fire.
