Hey Fiznerpin1962
So you've met the Yantar lab APC? Sorry for the distress that this APC might have caused. x_x :-" Fortunately you can't throw an ashtray or something from good old US to London here. #:-s
I couldn't quite get it, btw, if you're just yelling for that you've been surprised by the APC, or is it actually really outside the door that you can't even step out?
The APC is spawned outside the perimeter, and although it's a mobile one, (except in highly rare situations) it's impossible for the APC to dive into the front yard itself due to the abandoned trucks, trees and heavy garbage outside, it cannot quite steer around them. I've worked hard to set this scene. But, still, you never know, it may enter the front yard. If it's what you're talking about, there’s still one solution. If the APC is too near to the door, then it's left itself rather vulnerable. You can throw grenades into the door opening (after the first inside doors opened) and pull back immediately, the explosion after two or three grenades will take out the APC. It's more difficult to deal with when if it's safely loose on the outer perimeter than it's very near to the door.
I always say: Everybody always needs to save after getting a mission and before reporting back. Then surprises can be rectified. :mozilla_smile:
BTW, very catchy pictures again.
EDIT:
PS: (just seen the new post)
A support group for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. addiction? :)) What a novel idea! GSC should've used something like this for marketing purposes, would go nice. :thumbright:

Kaidonni
I must've missed your post, sorry. You don't have to pay anything at all in order to enter the Bar area. You need to complete the "get the military document from Agrogrom Base" mission (you take it from Sid before leaving Cordon). Then, once you've got the case there, Sid talks to you (on radio) and tells you go to the Bar. Then the Duty Guards there, though they they pull some tough guy stuff to you, they let you go through once you tell them you're being expected by the Barkeep. :mozilla_smile:

Great pictures Ultradad. :thumbright: And, yes you've found the dead body of the Pripyat trader as well. You've got 3 million? You can open a bank in the Zone now, then. :D

Hey Wombat_70 You've well made it to RF. :thumbright: (both photos are the same btw) And the codes are nearer than you think. :mozilla_wink:

===============

I've got the new pictures. Resizing and web-optimizations (color alignments) done. I'll upload them tonight once I've got back home.

Nightwatch, the Inventory CTD I have been fighting is being caused by the yellow Dosimeter. I did lots of tests and can say for sure that this is the case. If I pick one up from a body, I get a CTD. If I remove it, no CTD. Very much constant.
On another matter, when I finish jumping through the portals at NPP, should I jump through the last one to Pripyat, or walk back? I want to return for more loot later.

Sorry replying late, though I was logged-in. After I read your post I checked on my PC, that yellow detector (advance detector -though it's a level 2 one-) works OK in my game.Strange. I haven't heard the same problem from other guys as well, though, I'll be keeping the taps on it, monitoring the situation. Thanks for the info. Still, it might be due a specific problem that might've become residual in your game, e.g. a (slightly) faulty game initialization, maybe? Will monitor it. :mozilla_smile:
On the NPP question, it works best if you jump into the last portal on the rooftop there. Walking back can be done, but, frankly, I haven't tested that option a lot. After the rooftop portal, you can come back to NPP later at any time through the usual way, as it was in the first entry.

Erm...still curious as to why radiation was not affecting me in the slightest. De-suited myself, de-artifcats-on-belt-ed myself, no effect. Even when the bar was entirely full...just vision effects, that's all. No health disappearing, though...

If you're not getting any radiation hit, which would be impossible normally, then I would assume that you've changed some actor properties or something else (even like like weight limit, stamina, suits, etc, does not respond well, because things do not work like vanilla here) which may look like nothing to do with radiation, but has ended up contradicting the workings of that particular script and caused it to stop. Please delete your gamedata and reinstall the mod; radiation hits everybody always.

My game has been strange from the start! :-?? The only thing I don't like tho, is the lack of ANYTHING in Pripyat (except for the APC) untill I went thru the underground carpark. Then I found @23 enemies. Snipers, Monolith, ect. Not even any controllers at the school. I made 3 trips out of the area to sell loot and buy supplies, and only now are others starting to show up. Maybe 10-12 Loners, Duty, Hunters, and Bandits. Unlike 2.4, I can talk to the Hunters now. Even trade with them. I like that. Because of these problems, I can only rate your Mod 9.99 out of 10. B-)

Edit; After I quit having fun, I might try installing by hand, to see if that helps.

Yes, Nightwatch, the APC had actually backed up/run into/sideswiped the bunker door - jamming it shut. #-o I couldn't shoot it, 'nade it, or otherwise damage it... but it was getting it's licks on me!
The solution: - went in to talk to Sakarov (after many reloads of my quicksave right before entering the bunker before I figured it out, BTW), listened for the p.o.s. to "touch ground", ran out & blew it to shit! - Then went & finished my business w/ Sakarov.

- am currently going back to Bar from meeting Doc. Any more "surprises"? :-ss

NW - The yellow dosimeter thing, I think I may have had that problem. I kept getting crashes whenever I accessed my inventory ("no room to place item"), after receiving one of those. So rather than access my inventory, I traded with an NPC and sold the effer... no problems afterwards.

I don't know the cause as it seems to effect some people but not others, but.... I got the same crash in my normal game last night. I then realised it is the first time I have added over 5 artefacts to my belt since I went widescreen. My modded game allows 7, but I had not done the required changes to the _16 ui file to allow widescreen support.

Now I'm not saying its the same, as in NEWSA I only had 2 artefacts attached so it should not have caused a problem. I also had not tried to attach it to my belt. Just might be worth an eye over the ui files, or the dosimeter files... does it try and "auto-attach" to the belt?

You run widescreen Grump?

I've had a few updates in the Players thread so I'll send you a list later (PS I dont have e-mail access right now so will just post it here).

I may slim this down to 5 awards. The awards where we need multiple shots to capture all monolith, etc just don't seem to work that well, especially when we get to three screens. Just waiting to see if anyone has a problem if we streamline it a bit.

Er, Nightwatch, I reinstalled and checked the radiation thing. It seems I, er, well...am still immune. It's at the Garbage, in the mounds of, well, garbage, and even on the edges of the map with the no-go radiation zone. And I really have not changed any files, either...

EggChen, Yes I run widescreen and earlier in the game I had them trying to attach themselves to my belt. I wondered if it might have something to do with having only 3 slots now? In 2.4 they attached themselves sometimes, but we had more slots and it never caused a CTD.
Nightwatch, My game has kicked itself in the ass! I had to run for my life to go get my Nano suit!! :pale: Been using my favorite Exo. Holy Crapper!

OK, I'll update the photos tomorrow, during daytime as today's program did fit the expected timetible.

Yes EggChen, it'd be a good idea to slim down the number of awards. You've made a very nice table there. I've got the table, I guess it's the one that's ready for upload, unless a new one comes until tomorrow (Thursday). But, anyhow, I can update any new table any time.

About the yellow detector inventory crashes you and Grumps642 are having. The yellow dosimeter (detector_advances) -a level 2 detector in my classification- does not auto-attach the belt; in fact, it carries the same characteristics of the other detectors.

Please check in your config\misc\items file that these values should say:
Code: Select all
slot          = 8

belt          = true
default_to_ruck       = false ; true
auto_attach          = false ; true--/#-#071215

ef_detector_type       = 1

which are same with all other detectors. Always have been like this. It shares also other common values with other detectors, so if there had been a problem with any of the above, (which not), then the other detectors should have caused crash, too. And the icon sits on the very same communal ui_icon_equipment file like everything else. So, I assume there must be a game specific problem there, possibly due to a not-healthy game initialization.

Maybe, possible, it was attached to the belt in the game at one point, the game was saved, and an auto save carried the value as registered so, and somehow it got stuck and the game still sees it attached even though it's not.
(ps: it's not related to having any number of belt slots, either; because it doesn't auto-attach, none of them does. You can have even one slot, and if there's not any available place, the item that's being tried to put on the belt simply does not attach. It wouldn't crash the game. You can have 10 slots, and if you try to attach any 11th artifact for example, it just refuses to attach, but won't crash the game)

On a different note: Grump642, Thanks for giving such a high score. :-bd Yeah, Hunters are repaired in v3.0 as well. And, I see that you've got Pripyat sniper valley spawn working on 4th try. Great. :mozilla_smile:
While Quad-Cores are an absolute pain and almost a no-go CPU for STALKER, DualCores are not getting along perfectly with the game, either. There are still some certain spawn delays seen at varying extents. (GSC had offered support for DualCores (it was worse earlier) and I hope they'll do it for Quads as well later.)

Kaidonni
You are in Garbage now, right? Take off your suit and walk towards the Dark Valley Level Changer. There's extreme radiation there, check that you should be sufficiently dead even before the halfway point.

fiznerpin1962
You've saved yourself from a very "surprising" danger with fast action. :thumbright: The APC must have a score to settle with you, lol, it enters the front yard in extremely rare circumstances, because I spawn it at a point from there it's very very difficult to steer around all thouse vehicles, trees, etc, and manage to enter the front yard. Well deserved victory :thumbright:
Rostok? No, no new surprises, as far as APCs and Helis are concerned, but you should expect very heated enemy assaults, goes without saying. :mozilla_smile:

you know you can do the Brain Scorcher without coming through Red Forest, just use the teleport in Yantar, it's up in the hills at the end of the map where all the zombies are,it brings you out just outside the BS complex.
after I finished BS I was killing all the Monolith in the rail yards and the Blowout hit,
I legged it back inside the tunnel and hid behind a wall just before the BS switch, when the rad was getting to much I ducked into the BS level, healed myself, then left, rinse and repeat.
it's not incompetence mate believe me, I searched Cordon and the Bar for four nights looking for that seven digit code for the sniper door and when I found out where it was I was totally gob smacked, I just never thought of looking in that spot, even although I was looking at it, you need to think outside the "box" no, it's not inside a box or on a box although the term "box" has many connotations ;)

Hey Guys, resizing the new pictures and update the Players Corner again before evening time today. Somethings came up for the last two days, I was not quite productive, sorry. I got the awards list from EggChen, thanks. :thumbright: It'll go on top of the page as well.
--------

Wombat_70, yeah busetibi is right, it's nothing to do with being competent or not. In fact, being "too competent" does not pay well in finding the numbers, I may say. You should also wear your leisure glasses as well when looking around. :mozilla_wink: There are nice goodies inside the both bunkers.
