A.- I have used unique stashes since first playing NEWSA. Never had a problem - ever. (sometimes quality is better than quantity, you greedy bastards..... :p )

B.- stretched bodies are no problem. Doesn't effect performance & you can walk right through the "stretch" part.

C.- I get plenty of performance from 32 bit, why mess with a good thing?

D.- end game :-k , what to base the "end" on?

Same for me. I had no problem what so ever and also agree with you that quality is better than quantity (thats one of my friends phrases that he uses when some of us go how he passed and we haven't)

D.- end game :-k , what to base the "end" on?

When you finally given up and retired and spend the rest of your money on the vodka at bar and giving experience to the younger stalkers. Of course keep a weapon at you at all times incase of assassins wanting your head and become the new best stalker and all i can say to them are :ymbringiton:

Also I offically hate Fitebites more then anything else (yes even more then Poltergeists)

Firebites aint so bad, at least you can see them!
I'm having lots of Bloodsucker spawns (my kill count for them is almost as high as Controller kills (hundreds) ) every Horror Time one or two spawn in just as it starts and the screen goes weird, of course I can't see squat till it settles down, I've lost count the amount of times they've killed me at the start of Horror Time ](*,) so I had to adapt and find a work around to beat them (one of the things that I love about this mod) but yea, give me Firebites over Red Hell Bloodsuckers every time

I walked through the last portal in Stancia 2 and began Freeplay at 18:49 PM on the 17th of the 5th 2012 (ingame time) real time 1.5.09
Im now at 11:16 AM on the 6th of the 11th 2012 (ingame time) real time 20.5.09
:)
edit2:
#-o I meant my ingame date is now 11th of the 6th not 6th of the 11th #-o

Here's the deal. All I have purchased since I started freeplay are buckshot. As you can see, I have quite the arsenal building (no plain rounds - all hollowpoint. :thumbright: regular rounds are just trading stock). I've got more shit to shoot people than the Iraqi insurgents! Don't see running out either. Maybe I should quit buying shottie shells....

(even "found" a minigun! - sold the other one to barkeep.)

- this is what I netted with one trip from bunker, around Prypryat, and back:

Haven't been playing in about 4 days or so. Work has been interfering with my play! :mozilla_yell: Plus I have been off into hardware, which I love studying. Nightwatch I now have 7 of those funny looking "decoders".http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv340/Grump642/Soc/ss_grumpy_05-20-09_17-25-01_l05_bar.jpg. Also note the GPU temp. top, left. After dismantling my Gfx card and TOTALLY cleaning and re-doing thermal grease, check the temps now! :thumbright: http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv340/Grump642/Soc/ss_grumpy_05-20-09_18-32-49_l10_rad.jpg

Wow Grump! - 80c - nice cleanup & fix.
Nightwatch...will change to unique or classic stashes - maybe "random" is a no go?
I will test things some more.

Okay...went to unique stashes and looted about 35 or 40 corpses
and no problems at all. Looks like "random" is a no no. When I
have more time I may start NPP all over again to see if I can get
through it.
Wombat...no problem...I knew what you meant. I just didn't say
it well - :D

I'm currently using random stashes with no crashes. I did have one early, but I then commented out the smoke grenade (grenade_gd-05) in the trs_rnd_list array in smb_vars.script, making it exactly a multiple of four lines long. The code divides the list into four sections corresponding to one's rank, and there might be an indexing error as a result of an uneven array -- even though it tries to accommodate that.

Or maybe the problem is with Lua and entries with hyphens, treating them as expressions -- and then the resulting string is empty. We've seen this problem with attempting to vaporize bodies depending on which weapon was used, and the wpn_rg-6 caused a problem. I don't think this is the case, because there are also the VOG grenades with hyphens.

Or I might be just extremely fortunate, especially since I'm exploiting the bodies-can-be-searched-again "feature". :) I'll keep trying.

Nightwatch, I'm sorry to hear about your 64-bit woes. I'll trade you a step-daughter wedding with associated preparations, including the mom-in-law in residence for over a week, for installing and tweaking Windows, though.

Re the perfect condition weapons: I was talking about how the game (meaning the game engine, not the mod) is intermittent on executing the set_condition() API function. The command to unload the weapon is also intermittent. We can't trust the engine's API.

I don't think stretched bodies are a problem. Maybe stretched bodies with a complex shadow are problematic. Or bodies stretched beyond the rendering (or shader) boundaries for an object... I just had trouble with a single stretched body, and taking something from his inventory fixed the framerate kill.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Wombat_70, I've had a similar laugh: the NPC was firing his weapon as he moved it around and knelt to search a body. It looks like the bullets are flying everywhere. I guess the Dutyer ticked off the Exo loner in your pic.

That's a big responsibility and a project requires immense work -and stress. :)] ~x( :-t People make movies out of such events. Good Luck. :thumbright:

Hmm, on perfect condition weapons thing, it's my bad, I understood wrong. Yup, you're right of course. But while on the subject, it has also brought me an idea that I missed before. Thanks. I'll make the dropped weapons appallingly crap as well, things will be getting harder. :mozilla_wink:

Thanks for the recent finds, as above. Thankfully noted very safely.

Zone gives some us some moments of laughter, too, as you've perfectly put there. :D

Very good going there fiznerpin1962 :thumbright:
When I've managed to put the Freeplay storyline, there will be an ending to this open-ending freeplay; at least story-wise.

busetibi, your bloodsucker culling may this time exceed your controller massacres, as it seems. :D

Grump642
From 80C to 55C?? That's a score. 25 degrees cooling gain. You need to write it down, mate, on a thread, say, Hardware and Software. People need to know, (sshh, I need to know, too.) :D
Mine currently running, well, sometimes hitting at 70-73C at heavy load.
Your decoders are one of kind, really, like collectors items, lol. :D
I can't play anything either for nearly a week now, because this 64 bit adventure (or tragedy? Ok, maybe not that much, but still quite near)

Great news, audioave10. So giving up on "random stashes" stopped your body-search crashes. Great. I always -well, mostly- play on classic stashes anyway, therefore, I might've missed a compounding problem on that system of stashes. Possibly engine does not like it that much, either. Maybe, at least something I can sympathize with it. :mozilla_wink:
------------------------

Well, Guys, I must thank you a lot that you've found out the root problem of these random crashes which seemed to affect only a certain number of people. :thumbright: Now, this means they are those, at least mainly, who seem to choose the "random stashes" option. As I said, I'll disconnect it from the mod.

On my 64-bit adventure:
What a pity, that more than 5 days went for nothing. Well, not for a complete "nothing" maybe, as I've learned a lot, some lessons learned. Now I'm back to 32-bit, after 3 re-installs of 64 bit, I've crawled back to 32 bit. Fortunately she was kind enough to take me back. My PC is now running with blistering speed once again. 64-bit, :-Q L-)
I'll write it all on Hardware and Software later as, I don't know, maybe it may provide some info for those who want to try 64 bit and elaborate on it for their own systems.
I'll install Adobe suit right now, -fourth time in 5 days. It takes 3 hours to install and another 2 hours to set it up just halfway.

To NatVac...Thanks...I got your file but could not get it to work.
However, your file is probably good but some of my script lines in
ui_main_menu was a little different along with the Russian text in-
between some of those lines. I'm sure I messed it up because it
didn't turn out to be a simple copy & paste job. I am self-learned
on all things PC (which means I am self-stupid on many of those things). :sign6: :d
EDIT: not to worry...I didn't remove any of the Russian text and
I think I had found the correct place to put the files. I can try it
again and who knows might still get it right.

We may need some debugging output. I'll try to find the original menu script file (I've modified mine), make the change and check it out. I'll include some progress info like "Level Changer key pressed", "Creating level changer", "zlc.script not found", etc.

Right now, I really would like to be dead; I think it would be less painful. I can't even begin to post without some interruption, and I see no relief until a week from Sunday. I managed three hours sleep last night because the only time I can get anything done is when no one else is awake.

audioave10, the script patch works just fine in my N-S test (I created a level changer in the Bar, then jumped to Stancia 2), but I just saw the message I sent you at 3 in the morning Texas time. Somehow it is not what I composed.

It should have said this (and did, at one point): Replace the line:
Code: Select all
      elseif dik == DIK_keys.DIK_S then

with the code block I included. It has that line at the end. You are just adding another key to process, with supporting code.

Sorry about that. (-|

Edit: fiznerpin1962, I am glad this is the last wedding (in theory), but I might not make it to day 5 at this current rate. Thanks for the laugh.

NatVac...logfile almost looks normal but includes this...

! Unknown command: r__dtex_range
! Unknown command: r__ssa_glod_end
! Unknown command: r__ssa_glod_start
! Unknown command: r__wallmark_ttl
! Unknown command: rs_detail
! Unknown command: rs_skeleton_update
! Unknown command: vid_bpp

that's the only complaints I get and the game won't start :-??

Please SLEEP first...this is not THAT important...I have 2 gaming PC's and lots of games. Thanks for your help.

I'm about to sleep, but I would like to comment on that.

The unknown commands are common for using certain video quality settings. That's a GSC issue, but not a big one. These remarks can be ignored.

The problem with the game not starting is usually an error in the modified main menu script file*; the patch did not go well. Typically, the elseif statements are not properly matched, or there is one end statement too few or too many.

I'll send you an updated ui_main_menu.script tomorrow, after some shuteye. Rehearsal dinner ahead, with most of my spare time already committed by my wife.

__________
*Edit: Clarification: This is not about the original mod's main menu script file, which is working fine.

I really appreciate the help NatVac...but don't get yourself in trouble.
She may not be so forgiving the next time I post a special "vintage"
picture. :D

Edit...I noticed your version of that line was "elseif" but my
version was just "if". I tried changing the first and last line of
your code to just "if" but it didn't work either way. I also could
have missed a line.

UPDATE: removed one of the "end" locations that looked excessive compaired to the original and I'm now back in the game and have a green circle location on the PDA map (didn't
even have that before-as if the game didn't know I was there).
Still no luck with a level-change.
